The grammar is there and 2 examples that is it. There is some small structural stuff. I studied the 1st week of 8 and I am so annoyed with this book I have decided to buy another book. There just isn't anything good in this book and very little practice and to top it off the examples are easy but the practice questions are on another level of difficulty.

内容が豊富で、覚えやすい。全部を覚えたら、きっと日本語で作文ができるし、日本語の文章も読めるようになる。日本語の能力を上げることに役に立つ。いい本だと思う。でも、残念なから、この本の文法要点があまり能力試験に出て来なかった。これは近頃、能力試験は改革されたからかもしれないと思う。出版社はまだ試験の文法要点がはっきり分からないからかもしれないと思う。

This is a good book for people with limited time. It shows the examples with the translation in English (so you don't have to look for the words you don't know or wonder about the meaning of the expression until you get it). It's very clear, concise, schematic, easy to use and offers a good amount of practice.

The lessons are structured in an eight week study plan, two pages a day and it's working great for me so far.

However, if you want a more thorough approach and/or have lots of time in your hands, chose Kanzen Master instead. I`ve found myself using this book more since its easier to understand and goes straight to the point and then checking Kanzen Master only when I want further explanations or practice on some grammar patterns.

I bought this book early in the year and quickly found that, while it had a lot of important grammar points, there weren't enough explanations to fully understand them, and only two example sentences doesn't really let the learner pick up the meaning from context. I really didn't like the English in the book at all anyway; they spent way too much time paraphrasing into "natural" English instead of showing you what the grammar is truly saying.

That being said, this book ended up being exactly what I needed. It covers most of the N2 grammar points that are new after N3. The book is pretty nicely laid out, and I ended up being really thankful that there is a decent amount of space around each example. This book, teamed up with the J-Gram website definitely brought my grammar up to par. I tore apart each week's grammar until I fully understood it, then studied pretty intensely for a while and it paid off. I passed N2 with no problem, including an A score in grammar. :)

If you're willing to use it as a starting point and add to it, I think this book is worth it, which is why I give it 4 stars. I'll be starting their N1 book soon.
As an alternative, I liked 耳から覚える文法 as well because it gives you many examples, and I've heard good things about 完全マスター文法 if you'd rather think out the grammar 100% in Japanese.
