Malcolm Gladwell writes in a clear and informative voice that is a pleasure to read. I found it amazing how sometimes big changes occur because of very small things. He talks about three agents of change, the Law of the Few, the Stickiness Factor, and the Power of Context. He uses interesting examples to illustrate his points. It is a really interesting book for those trying to understand why some things become popular whilst others, just as good, don't. A must read for anyone considering advertising of any sort.

ペーパーバックを購入してから4年以上ほって置いたが、最近のいろいろな社会現象を考えている時に気になり一気に読んでみて、考える際の

参考になった本。心理学、犯罪学など色々な分野の実証研究・報告をベースに社会現象を見る際のポイントが丁寧に説明されている。マーケティング、組織内調整など経営学的な観点からの応用もできそうなネタが沢山あり、いろんな問題意識を持った人に是非読んでもらいたい本です。

今ある現象を色々な例を取り上げて興味深く説明してゆく手法、学術的に正しいかどうかのレベルのお話は私にとってはどうでもよく、安易な表現・言葉で私を彼の知識空間で遊ばせて頂いたことに感謝しています。青少年の喫煙の例などは私の中で漠然としていたものが一つの言葉として整理され、読み進む中で　以前手にしたJohn GrishamのThe clientの冒頭で、幼い兄弟が森に隠れて興味本位にタバコに手を出す心理分析など下手に取るように思い出され、一冊の本が在る意味で、また他の本に与える相乗効果などを考えさせながら、きっと数週間後には彼の作品　Blink　を手にしているだろう自分が見えます。この一冊が私自身を彼の世界に引き込んで行くTipping pointになるのかな？

I was drawn into this book from the moment I cracked the spine. Each and every example had a very compelling start and story that left you wanting to talk to someone about what you had just learned. The topics are varied and range from Paul Revere's network to a syphilis outbreak in Baltimore to Blues Clues the children's t.v. program that made small changes to Sesame Street's premise and is revolutionized preschool education.

Every time I took a break from reading I was thinking of how I could apply this "the little things matter" to my business and I guarantee you will do the same. It positively gets your creative juices flowing and I found I felt less likely to shoot down an idea but more likely to embrace it and try to find the workable nugget hidden there.

Anyone who reads this book will come out of it with something, and that something may very well revolutionize your business, life or community.

全体的にはとてもよかったです。非常にためになった点もありますが、ところどころ、本来の課題と違うところでかなり細かくなったりしましたので、常に本のメインコンセプトを忘れないようにするといいです。しかし、すぐにでも使えそうなポイントも沢山ありました。

読む人間を飽きさせません。日本語で読むより時間がかかりますが、大丈夫読了できるでしょう。

When I read this book, I was reminded a lot of Freakonomics. But Gladwell's book is based more on his opinions. Levitt tried to back his up with some statistics. I liked the idea that little things can really make big changes. The take on the 3 types of people that can change things is good too. It is very readable and you can easily read it while commuting. The main point that I like, is after I read it, it is fun to think of ways to make your own tipping points. Thank you for that inspiration, Gladwell.

Don't be surprised if you find yourself looking for your own examples of tipping points after reading this book. Gladwell clearly identifies a robust framework and puts it to use with a number of examples from reality. The case studies are especially insightful. My wife and I both enjoyed the book. Highly recommended.

After reading this book I have had many ideas about how to make my own life and the world in general a better place. Everything from doing community clean-ups and planting trees to improve a domestic crime situation to sending my brother stationed in Iraq ideas about positive small things they can do in the community there to bring about a change in that dire situation.

My idea is to get the military actively involved in building solar and wind power farms to create jobs, work with the locals and try to re-establish an energy system that is not solely dependent on the oil they are all fighting over. You might think that sounds like it wouldn't have any effect on the war and fighting over there, but after reading this book, you realize that any small, positive change can be the tipping point to make major changes in an epidemic- even in a war. We just need more mavericks and mavens in the military overthere to see it through.

In the midst of all the depressing things happening around the world, it is so refreshing to read books like this that are looking at the way people can make small but positive changes in their own lives and the lives of others to make good things happen.

It is a quick and fun read, full of interesting case studies and research which backs up all of his arguments as well as personal interviews with people who influence change.
