トム・ウェイツには名曲がたくさんあるが、初期の作品群には
特に素晴らしいものが多い。

某ドラマのエンディングで流れている「トム・トラバーツ・ブルース」
のほかにも、ブルース・スプリングスティーンのカバーが有名な
「ジャージー・ガール」、イーグルスのカバーが有名な「オール'55」
など、そちらが本家だと思われている方も多いのではないでしょうか。

"酔いどれ詩人"のキャッチコピーが定番ですが、ジャズの要素を多分に帯びた
メロディーが心地よく、時に語りかけてくるように歌われる楽曲の数々は
確かにお酒が良く合います。しかし、それだけではありません。
「想い出に乾杯」や「土曜日の夜」などなどこのベスト盤には本当に名曲が多いので、
ドラマの1曲しか知らない、という方にもお勧めできる1枚です。
もっともっと日本でも評価されていいアーティストです。

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　バックが暗ーーーい
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　ドラマの筋とぴったりの
　　　　　　　　　　　　「トム・ウェイツの歌、しゃがれた低音のハスキーボイス」。

誰が歌ってんだろーって、録画したドラマの最後のテロップを、
一時停止にして、じっと眺めてやっと探し当てました。

　　　　　　　　　　　　この声は、じぃーンとしびれますーッ！
