HV10に続くCANON製カメラの購入となりました。
イヤフォンなどをつなげて音声のモニターが可能なこと、
外部マイクの使用が可能なこと、
マニュアル操作での撮影が可能なこと、
ハイビジョン映像をSDカードに記録出来ること、
手振れ補正機能の評判の高さと
デザインの良さでこの機種を選択しました。

概ね満足しておりますが、幾つか気になる点も有りました。
中でも比較的目立ったのは
マイク端子がカバーの類で保護されておらず
むき出しのままになっている点と、
手振れ補正機能を一番効き目の強いものを選択したままで
景色の撮影をすると、パンをして止めた時に
‘揺り返し’とでも申しましょうか、そういう現象が起こる点です。
前者は撮影上で不都合になることは殆どありませんが
後者の場合、その癖を知っていないと取り返しがつかないことにもなりかねません。
尤も、手振れ補正はメニュー設定で３段階の切り替えが可能ですので
景色などを撮る場合は、一段階下の手振れ補正を使うのが良さそうです。

ヘリコプターとプロペラ機（YS-11）による
空撮の機会に恵まれたのでこのカメラを持ち込みましたが
プロペラ機の振動はほぼ問題の無いレベルまで吸収してくれました。
ヘリの場合は多少揺れが残りましたが、
それでも通常の手振れ補正とは比較にならない効果を発揮してくれました。

一眼レフもコンデジもキャノンなので、メーカーで選びました。
これまで使っていたのは、10年も前のソニー機（DCR-PC3）だったので、それとの比較になりますが、手振れ防止機能は非常に素晴らしいと思います。また、フォーカスも早いです。
タッチパネル操作ではなく、ジョイスティックを使いますが、画面が汚れない利点があります。
併せてバッテリーパック BP-819を購入しました。標準装備のバッテリーでは少し心もとないかも知れませんが、このバッテリーを使えば長時間の使用も可能となりますからお勧めです。

6年前にDVDカムのビデオカメラ購入後、DVDレコーダーで編集&DVDへ保存をしながら子供の成長を撮ってきましたが、嫁がディスクの交換が面倒に感じてきたのと、TVを買い替えた際にBDレコーダー同時購入したけれど、DVDカムのビデオカメラで撮ったデータがBDレコーダーに認識されないので新しくビデオカメラを購入する事に。デジタル一眼レフでX3を購入した事もあってか、Canon製品で揃えたく思いS11を購入。来月には新型が出るけれど、タッチパネルは汚れるのを避けたいのでS11に決定。使った感想はAFが早い！ボディの一部が黒色のピアノ調があってカッコイイ。
撮影しながらモード変更せずに静止画も撮れるのが嬉しい。撮影時に暗ければライトがポップアップし、静止画撮影時もストロボ発光する。レンズに指紋やキズを付けたくないので、デジイチで使ってるレンズカバーを取り付けれたのが1番嬉しかった。プロテクターレンズも取り付けて保護してます。
デジイチ同様に色々とアクセサリーを増やす楽しみがあるビデオカメラではないのでしょうか。
バッテリー充電時はボディへバッテリーを取り付けたままの充電なので、それが気になる場合は別売りのバッテリーチャージャーを購入すると良いと思います。バッテリーが余り持たないとの評判もあるけれど、使い方次第ではないのでしょうか！？今の所は不便は感じないです。後々購入すれば良い事だし、まずは現状を良く把握してから対策した方が無駄な出費が防げると思います。
