ノベルス風の読み物パートと、戦略系風のシミュレーションパートに分かれてますが、
どちらも中途半端です。

シミュレーションパートは補給の概念が取り込まれていて一見楽しそうなんですが、概ね数ターンで敵の兵站がつき、補給の切れたザクを延々駆逐するだけの展開になります。(補給切れの部隊の能力は大きく落ちる)　もしかしたらジオン等々の物資の少なさを表現しているのかもしれませんが、敵のオツム弱すぎです。
爽快感はみじんもありませんが、ただ詰将棋的な楽しさは若干あるかもしれません。

もっと残念なのは読み物パートで、印象は劣化奈須きのこ。氏の好き嫌いにかかわりなく、無駄にまわりくどく暑苦しい文章に、オープニングから不安と苛立ちを感じさせられるかと思います。
加えて、本作独自のガンダム解釈。伝記のような体裁をとっている為、意図的にやっているのかもしれませんが、主人公や周囲の心情について、時々首をひねりたくなる解釈が使われます。私には、「ガンダムはこうでなければならない！」といった固定観念はないのですが、それでも終始置いてけぼりにされた印象でした。

というようにかなり癖のある商品なので、新品で買うのはお勧め出来ません。大手の中古ソフト屋で900円程度で売られているのを見ましたので、世間的にそういう評価なのかなと思います。広い心を持って色んな言い訳をつけて900円で買えば、楽しいところがなくはないかと思います。

簡単に言えば、ノベルゲー+戦術シミュレーションといった感じです。
独特の解釈・文章センスを許せる方と、
型にはまった戦術シミュがやりたい方にはオススメ・・・できないかも。

とにかく、「ＤＳでガンダムが好きだから買ってみよう」という方には
絶対オススメしません。途中でくじけます。クリアせずに売りたくなります。
もう少し、価格が安くなるか or 投売りされるまで待ちましょう。

アムロのガンダムで爽快に敵MSを撃破とか、単騎で無双とかは望むべくもありません。
純粋に戦術シミュレーションをやっていますので、そこはご推察ください。
部隊の運営は計画性を求められますし、
セーブ＆ロード、繰り返しギブアップを前提にプレイされる方
忍耐と時間的余裕のある方にはオススメです。
自分にはありませんでしたが、投売りされない事をお祈り申し上げます

BGMやSE（ビームサーベルの音や水中爆発音、ザクのアイの動作音等これでもかというほど）鑑賞メニューがあったり
それとなく楽しめそう、と思ったのが間違いだった。
戦闘はスパロボ・シリーズを彷彿とさせつつ、そこから脱却しようとして失敗してる。マップはスクエアでなく変形して
いたり（コロニー周りはドーナツ形状等）するのだけれど、スパロボのようにキャラクタが多数のスキルを持っておらず
しかも戦闘時には自動発動のみ。おかげで戦闘は駒を移動するだけなのでつまらなすぎ（同じスクエアに入ると自動戦闘
。サブメニューを出して、ということもなし）。ＤＳということで敷居を低くしたのかもしれませんが・・
