カメラータが最近国内盤をリリースすることで、注目が増しているピアニスト、フェルツマンの10年前の録音がお目見えした。
正規のセッション録音で音質は良好。第1協奏曲を聴いた時にも感じたものだが、ピアノの自由な振る舞いが大変楽しい。
ちょっとした和音にあえる味わいの面白さを堪能できる。
音色はつねに澄んでいるし、重みはないが、明るいブラームスとしてあたらしいスタイルを提示している（逆に言うと古典的なブラームスを期待する人には、あまり向かないかもしれない）。
オーケストラも安定した音色であるが、第1番に比べて楽曲自体の構成がよく練られているため、より自由度の発色が目立つ。
しかし、それが非常に相応しいとさえ感じられるから不思議だ。木管の思い切ったクローズアップもいい。
中でも第3楽章と第4楽章が素晴らしい出来栄え。
第3楽章はチェロ独奏から引き続く一連のシーンはゆっくりと世界を描くように展開しており、その描写力はみごと。
第4楽章はより浪漫的でゆるやかな楽章であるが、ここでフェルツマンの遊行的なピアニズムは多彩な色合いを獲得していて、聴き手を心底楽しませてくれる1枚となった。

たまたま図書館で借りたものが気に入ったので購入しました。
曲の解釈が大変明快で、いやみのない演奏です。オーケストラもよく鳴っていてとてもバランスが良いと思います。
テンポのとり方、テクニックもさることながら、ニュートラルな演奏なので何度聞いても飽きません。一番最初に聞いたブラームス・Ｐコンチェルトだからかもしれませんが、自分で弾くときの参考にもなる名盤だと思います。
