　まずざっと収録曲を見て思うこと、ファースト・アルバムからの曲が多いなぁ。それが物語るようにアラニス・モリセットの最高傑作はファーストだ。あのアルバムを携えてデヴューしてきた衝撃は今でも忘れない。が、それゆえにその後のアルバムが霞んでしまっているのは否めない。というか誤解を恐れず、はっきりいってしまえば、セカンドから今日に至るまでに発表されたオリジナルアルバムは大したものではない。
　今日でこそ世界のミュージックシーンにおいて不動の地位を確立したアラニスだが、もし、ファースト・アルバムを発表して引退していれば、それこそ「伝説のミュージシャン」になっていたであろう。
　ゆえにファーストからの収録曲が多いこの度の「ベスト」はアラニスのデヴュー後、１０年間の「集大成」といったものがあまり、いやほとんど感じられない。

はっきりいってアラニスはこのベストかファーストのジャグドリトルピルもってりゃ充分です。だって他に大したアルバムないし。たしかにファーストの衝撃は凄かったみたいだけど、セカンド以降の活動はちょっとねえ…。ぶち切れ感はこの人独自のものだけど、それがアルバムの完成度に全く結びついてないから、あんま意味ない。まあセカンド以降も曲単位でみればいいのちらほらあるから曲の流れとか完成度無視で聴けるこのべストアルバムはいいと思います。もしファーストのクオリティをセカンド以降も保ち続けてたら歴史に残るミュージシャンになってたでしょうね。残念だけど。
