　郷ひろみと言えば筒美京平なわけだが、ＴＢＳ水曜劇場「ムー」の企画モノである樹木希林とのデュエットソング「お化けのロック」（1977年9月発売／作詞：阿木燿子／作曲：宇崎竜童／編曲：萩田光雄）以降は様々な作詞家、作曲家がHIROMI GOを手掛けることになる。
　都倉俊一は「バイブレーション（胸から胸へ）」（1978年3月発売／作詞：島武実／作曲：都倉俊一／編曲：都倉俊一）が最初で、「林檎殺人事件」を挟んで「ハリウッド・スキャンダル」へとつながっていく訳だ。
　郷ひろみはアイドル脱皮の時期で、「ムー」「ムー一族」でコミカルな面にスポットが当たり、「お化け~」「林檎~」が予想外の受け方をしたこともあって、そのゆり戻しの楽曲として、いかにも芸能界、ゴージャスイメージの都倉俊一に白羽の矢が立ったのかもしれない。
　「バイブレーション（胸から胸へ）」は広告的な世界観の詞で、いかにも島武実である。当時、郷ひろみを指して、近田春夫がプラスチック感覚といったことを言っていたが、島武実の詞はそのイメージに大きく影響していると思う。メチャクチャ夏の詞なのに春先発売というのがおかしい（広告っぽい）。
　「ハリウッド・スキャンダル」はビージーズの「愛はきらめきの中に」が楽曲の下敷きとしてあると思う。詞先か曲先か分かんないけど、ミラーボールとかレザリアムなんて詞は明らかに「サタデー・ナイト・フィーバー」のイメージ。いまあらためて聴くと、ホーンとか使ってるものの、それほどゴージャスなアレンジではなく押さえ気味、でも時代を感じさせるサウンドである。その曲を聴くことで、当時の出来事とか思い出がどれだけ引っ張り出されるかってのが、その曲のある種のチカラだと思うんだけど、僕にとってこの曲は、まさにそうしたチカラがあって、高校時代のアレコレが思い出される。
　詞は当時も話題になったけど、思いっきりヘンで「♪俺、爪の先までビッシリビッシリ、俺、爪の先まで惚れていたの、さぁー」「♪君、髪の芯までビッシリビッシリ、君、髪の芯まで女だった、よぉー」ってかなり気持ちの悪い表現で、そこがとってもステキである。
