洋酒会社を舞台に、企業買収の顛末を、無職の主人公、平均（たいらひとし／植木等）が潜り込み、八面六臂の活躍をするというもの。その脚本から演出に至る全てにまったくの無駄がなく、緻密に、それでいて分かりやすく、喜劇として展開させている完成度に驚かされます。買収され旧主流派の元総務部長に、閑職に止まってでも「サラリーマンは辞表を出したらそれまでだ」と述べる下りは、高度成長期を支えた務め人の教義ともいえる言葉でしょう。その反面教師がまさしく無責任を貫く平均ですが、そのポジティブな行動力は、むしろ多くの平均的サラリーマンにはとてもやりたくても出来ない、超絶的な活躍だからこそ、共鳴するのだと思います。「あたりまえのことをあたりまえにせよ」とは、元社長が世話になった代議士の言葉を、元秘書であったと偽る平均が、勝手に述べる下りなのですが、このような言葉の重みが、随所に見られるところに、作品としての普遍性があるのでしょう。

　日本の喜劇映画の傑作のひとつです。
難しいことは考えず、とにかく楽しめます。日本が一番元気で（田舎も都会もＴＶも）輝いていた時代の雰囲気を味わってください。
　現在は、実績評価だとか自己責任だとかサラリーマンも気楽な稼業ではないですが、この映画を見て元気を取り戻しましょう。

終身雇用・年功序列の古きよき時代のサラリーマンのお気楽ぶりを描いた娯楽映画だろう、と思いつつ見たのだが、いやあ、見た気になってみていなかったのが恐ろしいですね、見てみると印象がぜんぜん違うのです。

そう、この映画の主人公である平均（たいらひとし）さんは、首になることもいとわずに要所要所で優れた働きをするスーパーサラリーマンだったのです。定時に出社しないのは今の裁量労働制の先取りに見えるし、一つの会社に縛られずに自分を売り込んで（？）どんどん新しい会社に移っていく姿はまさに今の時代を先取りしているようです。最後に社長になるなんて、まさにアントレプレナーそのものですよね。

ということで、これからのサラリーマンがめざすべき理想型の一つがここにある、と感じました。
