OVA版完結編です。第一巻ではあまり見られなかったミズキの優しさや、自らを制御出来なくなり始めたちせの苦悩が描かれています。原作やテレビ版と比較しながら見ると、より感慨深いものがあります。
本編にはシュウジが姿を現すことはありませんが、原作者の高橋しん先生がかきおろした、疎外感を感じている(笑)シュウジのイラストが入ってます。

　もっ、おしいっ！おしすぎる！！尺がっ！尺が短いっ！！
　ボク的には本編よりこっちの方がツボだった。なんてったってボク大好きなのよ、女と女の友情、みたいの。だけど、ほんと30分＋30分じゃ短すぎる！！もっと，ちせとミズキのからみが見たかった。どうせなら本編のほうにこれを入れ込んで、戦場と北海道での日常を平行して見せてくれれば完璧なのになぁ。ちせもミズキもはたまたテツも人生があり、家があり、恋人がいるわけさ。これをもっとしっかり表現していけば厚みがでていいと思うんだけどねぇ。もともとの設定がべらぼうに不条理な形で始まってるわけで、戦争やってるみたいだけどその理由やら過程やらが全部すっ飛んでいるんだから、下手すると完全に意味不明な不条理アニメになりかねない。けどキャラの造形はとっても感情移入がしやすいリアルなもの。そこでなら徹底的にキャラのディテールかきこんで、キャラとキャラの交流を中心に描けば、もっと魅力的な作品になるはず。ミズキっていう、ある意味とってもおいしい部分にいるオリジナルキャラを出したんだから、どうせなら彼女をちせがどう思っているのか、どう感じているのかまで細かく描いてくれればよかったのに。そのためにはやっぱり尺だ。キャラの深いとこ描くためには時間がどうしてももっといるよね。あぁ、やっぱりおしいなぁ・・・。
　ストーリー的には残念感があったけど、やっぱりいいわ、折笠富美子・ちせ。折笠愛さんが、きゅう〜、ってしたくなるっていうのも分かる分かる。とくに「ごめんね」っていうセリフ。つぼ。イントネーションが違うんだよね。そこがなんだかいもっぽくて、ちせらしくて、もう、かわいすぎ。どんどん削られて、どんどん純粋になっていく、ちせのけなげな想いを別な視点から見れるってだけでも、この作品見てよかったと思ったな。

アナザーストーリーとは、ちせの他にちょい役だったり虫ケラのように死んでいく兵隊達のストーリーも汲んでいたりするから、そこはよかったと言えます。
個人的に。
シュウちゃんには見せないちせの本音もそこに表れておりましょう。
