5.0 out of 5 stars リマスター／リマスタリング→購入する価値あり, 2006/7/5
ジャケットは、ロシア構成主義の画家、El Lissitzkyが1922年にベルリンで出版した、"Of Two Squares"※という画集の表紙絵のパロディです。同様に、本CDのブックレットに描かれている他の絵・タイポグラフィーも、同画集からのパロディです。
※手持ちのLissitzkyの画集がUKで発行されたものなので英語表記しましたが、本来はおそらくロシア語表記であったと思われます。

さて、1988年にリリースされた32XA-230と比較してみました。若干音の厚みが増しています。この盤が好きな人は買い直しても良いと思いますが、めったに聴かない、あるいは本作をあまり好きではない、という人は買い換える必要はないでしょう。
この盤を持っていない人は．．．勉強だと思って購入してみましょう。但し、万人向きの音楽ではありません。

坂本龍一のこれが２ｎｄアルバムだが、
自ら「音楽を壊す」と公言していただけあって、
当時のテクノポップブームに乗ったファンを見事に突き放した内容。
ミニマルやコラージュ等、今聴いても難しい内容だと思いますが、
「セックスの魔力についてのバラード」にインスパイアされたという
名曲「Ｔｈａｔｎｅｓｓ　ａｎｄ　Ｔｈｅｒｅｎｅｓｓ」、
当時ＹＭＯのライブのオープニングで演奏された
「Ｒｉｏｔ　ｉｎ　Ｌａｇｏｓ」等、新規ファンはチェックしておくべき内容です。
できればこの作品の前に出ていたシングル「Ｗａｒ　Ｈｅａｄ」と
後に出たシングル「Ｆｒｏｎｔ　Ｌｉｎｅ」をボーナストラックとして
収録してほしかったが・・・。

アルファよりリリースされた教授の2ndアルバムで、
発売以降20年以上経った今でも色褪せない、最高傑作との呼び声も高い名盤。

ＹＭＯ在籍時の作品で、当時千のナイフや東風、
Behind The Maskなどのメロディアスでハーモニーが素晴らしい楽曲を手掛けていた反動からか、
本作ではその対極のリズム感とエコーを多用したダブ的な空間処理を全面に打ち出した、
非常に実験的な作風になっています。
(ジャケットデザインからしてロシア構成主義という、
明らかに実験的な響きの文学からの影響を感じさせますし…)

1.defferenciaから暴力的なビートが姿を表し、
その縦横無尽なリズムの裏に密かに姿を見せては消えていく、
シンセの音色が何とも不思議な印象を残し、
また3.participation mystiqueや8.End Of Europeなどに顕著な,
過激に加工された声のコラージュやノイジーなサウンド･エフェクトの多用がとても攻撃的です。
4.E-3Aはそういった実験的な作風を保ちつつ、
何処かオリエンタルな雰囲気を醸し出していて非常に好きです。

そして教授の代表作の１つで、Liveでの定番曲6.Riot In Lagosはまさに傑作！
浮遊感漂う主旋律や、生き物の鳴き声のようなシンセの音色の数々、
そして独自のグルーヴを生むベースとリズムが一体となった名曲です。
