本人のキャラクターとか生い立ちとか作為的な話題づくりに頼らず、楽曲の良さと優れたヴォーカリゼーションを軸にした、きわめて真っ当で誠実な音楽活動を続けてきた島谷ひとみ。自分の“内面”とやらを見せつけることで“個性”を確立したつもりになっている女性ヴォーカリストが多いなか、彼女の立ち位置はとても潔く映る。 新作『crossover』からも、“いい音楽を提供したい”という彼女の意志がはっきりと伝わってくる。このアルバムのコンセプトは、ポップスとクラシックの融合。ポップスの楽しさにクラシックのゴージャス感をプラスすることで、新しいポップ・ミュージックを生み出す、ということなのだが、ここでも彼女は、楽曲ごとにニュアンスを微調整しながら、アルバムの趣旨に沿ったヴォーカルを披露している。自分自身を強引に押し付けることなく、“楽曲を良くすること”に焦点を絞る。歌手っていうのは本来、そういうもんでしょ? このアルバムの中の「i will」という曲がとても気に入りました♪
独創的ななんともいえない世界観！？でしょうか？
また、このアルバムの大半はrimixされているんですが、どれもとっても前より良くなっています。
特に「GarnetMoon」はシングルの時よりもこちらの方が気に入りました。
何度聞いても飽きないし元気の出るアルバム！？です。

上の曲目リストにある曲は「追憶+LOVE LETTER」以外入ってないですね。(笑)入れて欲しかったです。
このアルバムは新曲５曲と既存曲のアレンジ５曲の計１０曲の構成ですが、上の曲目リストも含めて１５曲くらい入れて欲しかったです(ちなみに、Violaは先日のシークレットライブでオーケストラバージョンで披露されました)。
他の方のレビューにもあるように歌唱力はピカイチですね。この何というか、包むような歌声がたまりません。どの曲も良いのですが、特におすすめは一曲目の「早春」。オーケストラをバックに島谷さんの優しい歌声が響きます。バックのオーケストラの演奏とうまく溶け合った彼女の歌声はまさに癒しの歌声です。とにかく必聴の一枚です。

歌唱力は、最近の、歌手の中では、ダントツで、とにかく、安心して聞いていられる、希少なシンガーだと思います。これだけ重厚なバックのオーケストラに負けないだけの、表現力を持っていますね。
アルバムに関しては、全体としてのバランスが良くて、先週購入してから、もう既に２０回以上通しで聞いています。
あと、もっと声量が加わって、プラス英語力がブラッシュアップされれば、世界で通用すると思いますよ。今後に大いに期待です。
