2003年7月、癌で他界したハービー・マンの遺作。フィル・ウッズとの共作と言われていたが、さらにギル・ゴールドスタインらが入り、いかにもハービー・マンらしい意欲的な作り。生前、批評家から軽んじられていたことに不満だったマンだが、新人を見る眼はしっかりしていた人であった。とはいえこの作品は、柔らかなサウンドの仕上がりで、曲もバラエティに富み、気軽にジャズを楽しむアルバムといった印象だ。これもまたマンらしいとも言える。ウッズ・ファンには、ウッズのクラリネットの妙技を楽しめる作品として推薦。 (青木和富) --- 2004年08月号
