02年、あの『ソフトロック・ドライヴィン』シリーズの特別編／番外編としてリリースされたもの。通常のシリーズとは異なり、レコード各社の音源が混載されているのだが、全体に不思議な統一感があり、あのいつもの、ちょっとデコボコな感じ（失礼！　そこがまた、いいわけだが…）が、ほとんどない。
『女囚さそり』のイメージは微塵もない、フレンチな梶芽衣子「舟にゆられて」に始まり、小悪魔チックな味わいがクセになる小川知子「女の館」、英語オリジナルのベッツィ＆クリス「子供たちよ」、「くれないホテル」Part2、とでもいった趣きのジュディ・オング「明日では遅い」、後に「マクロス」を歌うことになる藤原誠「サヨウナラの理由」、“世界のトミタ”による繊細なシンセの音色が印象的なチェリッシュ「かあさんの四季」、ゴージャスなバックの音―ハリウッド録音。編曲はお千代さんの「愛のさざなみ」と同じ人が担当―に対し、いつもと全く変わらないスタンスで挑む千昌夫の衝撃作「心の旅路」、“トッポ・ジージョ声”ではなく、ハスキーな地声でムーディーに歌われる山崎唯「ビバラビータ トッポ・ジージョ」・・・などなど、実に魅力的な楽曲がそろっている。ピコの「美しいものが好き」は、この時が初の音盤化。
いつも思うことだが、シングルＢ面（＝カップリング）やアルバム収録曲も多く含んだ、これだけの内容を持ったコンピレーションを編むためには、この何倍もの音源に当たる必要があるわけだし、いつもながらの濃いライナーを書くためには、綿密な調査が必要なわけで、つくづく土龍団の仕事ぶりには頭が下がる。そう、こんな素晴らしいアルバムを聴かずに生きて行くなんて、もったいない。入手しやすい状態のうちに、なんとかして手に入れ、堪能していただきたいものだと思う。
