SFCからPSへとプラットフォームを移し、当時としては画期的なヴィジュアルで世に送り出されたFF7。
そのFF7で使われた音楽を4枚のCDにしたものがこのアルバムです。

作曲者はこれまでのFFシリーズでおなじみの植松伸夫氏。
絵が語るようになった分、音楽は控えめにしたとの氏の言葉通り、これまでのFFほど音楽が語るようなことはありませんが、音楽が語るべきところでは見事に語っています。
それの最たる例が「エアリスのテーマ」ではないでしょうか。
FF7中1、2を争う名曲と名高いこの曲は、ゲーム中、音楽の出だしと映像が見事にシンクロし、その前のイベントのインパクトとあいまって見事としか言いようのないできになっています。
この他にも音楽が語っているすばらしい曲もいくつもありますし、そうでない曲もゲーム音楽としてFF7に彩を与えてくれました。

FF7が好きな方にはおすすめです。

SFC(任天堂)からPS(SONY)へのプラットフォーム移動により
音楽作りにもかなりの苦労をしていたのではなかろうかと思います。

音楽を控えめにした事により今までで聴いた事のない植松音楽が聴けたのもこの作品です

限界を超えて作ったコーラス入りの[片翼の天使]3曲近くに分けて何とか繋げたと言う苦労話
何回聴いてもどの辺で区切られているのか解りません

使える音数もかなり増えただけに、音楽のジャンルも様々なものに
世界中の色んな音楽が収められている感じもします

ゲームをやらない人も是非どうですか？

ファミコンのFF3から4に変わった時と同じくらい
スーファミからPSにFFが移行してゲーム音楽のレベルが
上がったことに感動した記憶があります。

「片翼の天使」「エアリスのテーマ」は言わずもがな、
１回しか聞けないオープニングイベントの
「オープニング〜爆破ミッション」や
ミニゲームにはまった「ゴールドソーサー」、
軽快な「ルーファウス歓迎式典」も大好きです。

FF7ファンなら必須アイテムですよー。
買ってほんとによかったです。
