   ロック、ジャズ、クラシックなど多岐にわたるジャンルを横断しながらも、難解にも散漫にもならず、とにかく耳に心地よい楽曲群。6曲のヴォーカル曲も、主張しすぎない絶妙な存在感でアクセントを作る。作品の放送終了後半年を経てリリースされた本作だが、それだけの価値を認められる聴きごたえある1枚だ。（剛吉若寸也）

正直言って、買うのは迷っていました。
でも、買ってみてよかったです。
私個人としては、一作目よりも濃い感じがして、ものすごく好みです。
全体の流れが、すごくいい。
感動して、耳に心地よかった。
かっちりとしたオーケストラよりも、ちょっと変わった民族楽器や、旋律が好きな私にとっては、ものすごく満足な一枚でした。

買ってよかった。本当に。

攻殻機動隊のプログレッシブ・サウンドを創り出しながら、一方で、こんなにも繊細な音楽を同時に創ってしまうのだから、まったく菅野よう子という人はすごい、というのが第一印象です。

基本的に未収録曲を中心とした構成なので、強く個性のある曲は少なめです。そのため、多少、物足りなさを感じる方も、もしかしたら、いらっしゃるかもしれません。けれども、この作品にあるのは、繊細で純粋でありながら、ものすごく雄大で深いクラシカルモードの菅野サウンドです。非常に多才な方なので、ファン層も広く、もうすでに一人の人として見ることさえ難しい最近の菅野さんですが、やっぱり、こういった心に響き渡る印象的な弦とブラスの音楽こそが、菅野さんの真骨頂だと個人的には思ってます。

半数を占めるワルシャワ録音の曲では、「7. rain of blossoms」「8. separated」「17. フレンズ」などのとにかく純粋に美しい曲のほか、雄大な「2. shiro, long tail's」「20. trace」など、素晴らしいものばかり。前作では特に印象に残った幻想的な「ラクエン」のリプライズをシークレット・トラックで聞くことができるのも嬉しいものです。リオ録音からの「4. beyond me」も、小品ながら、温かく心を包んでくれる素敵な曲。

もちろん、ドラマに不可欠な、場面々々を巧みに演出する「10. face on」や「11. 爪の砂」なども秀逸。特にこの2曲は、プログレッシブのエッセンスを取り入れつつ、また新しいサウンド創り出している点が特筆できます。ヴォーカル曲の仕上がりもばっちりです。

カウボーイ・ビバップからアルジュナを経て攻殻機動隊で炸裂したプログレッシブ・サウンドも菅野サウンドですが、「Wolf's Rain O.S.T.2」のクラシカルモード(もちろん、それだけではない)のサウンドもまた菅野サウンド。予想通りの高い仕上がりです。

アニメのサントラとして聞かなかったら、絶対にわからない程素晴らしい仕上がりになっています。ボーナストラックもあり、お得な内容。歌では、『cloud 9』がお気に入りです。ＴＶ版の劇中で聞いた覚えが無いので、これも期待できます。サントラとして昇華された素晴らしいアルバムです。ウルフズレインのＤＶＤと一緒にご購入をお薦めします。
