後発になる程FLY ME TO THE MOONや精神面描写音楽の比率が増す3種のサントラの1枚目だけあって、ダイナミズムの点において一定の純度を保った内容になっており、聴き終わった後には爽快感が残る。

収録曲は日常音楽と戦闘音楽に大別され、前者はボサノバやウェスタン等の、アニメには珍しい曲調が使用されている。楽器もピアノやフルートと言ったクラシック系の物が効果的に用いられ、新鮮さを覚えた。
後者はオーケストラによる迫力あふれる内容で、特に管楽器の組み合わせ方が秀逸。大半の曲中に何らかの形でピアノが顔を見せる点も面白い。

まさにエヴァという作品の陽や動の部分を垣間見る事が出来る素晴らしい1枚だろう。

テレビサントラで一番初めに聞きました。
｢残酷な天使のテーゼ｣から始まり、各BGMでつなげ、エンディングで終わるこのサントラ。今でも時々聞いていますが、そのたびにエヴァ音楽の凄さを思い知らされます。
　　
　　　アニメを見た方に特におすすめです。

残酷な天使のテーゼから始まるこのサントラ。
アニメのあのシーンを思い出しながら聞くといいです(^-^)
私のお気に入りは、レイのテーマと、零号機のテーマです。
買って損はないと思います。
