   『パトレイバー』など数々のアニメーションに、主にメカデザインとして参加してきた出渕裕が監督として取り組み、ロボットアニメの新しいスタンダードに挑んだ作品。この第1巻では、第1楽章、第2楽章を収録している。
   おそらくは近未来の東京、高校生の神名綾人が乗っていた地下鉄が大きな振動により脱線。助けを求め外へ出ると、地上は戦争状態にあり、巨大な人型兵器が戦闘を繰り広げていた。逃げた先で出会った少女、美嶋玲香に、綾人は神殿へと導かれる。そこには巨大な卵があった。真実を見せると綾人を連れ出す謎の女性・紫東遙、青い血を流す人々、そして綾人と同調して動き出すラーゼフォン。ここではまだすべて謎につつまれたままだが、その圧倒的スケールの世界観を感じさせるに充分なプロローグが展開する。（田中 元）

エバァに似てるなんて思ってるみたいだけど、これって実は、内容を練り直したライディーンのリメイクなんでないのかな
頭の羽が開いて顔が出てくる処とか、ボディの造形とか何となく似てるよ。
この当時にリメイクしたらこう成りましたって感じでしょう。

僕個人の感想としては、最高の出来だと思います。
ロボアニメですけど気分爽快かつ派手なアクションはありませんが、
人間ドラマに酔いしれることに魅力があると思います。
綾人と恵や遥とのやりとりや、久遠の意味深（笑）な行動も見物です。
ちなみにＰＳ２の『スーパーロボット対戦ＭＸ』にも登場した作品でもあります。

あとエヴァのパクリって言っている人が何人かいますが、
僕は似ていないと思います。
と言うか、”どこが”似ているのか書いている人は一人もいません。
僕から見れば主人公の境遇（エヴァでいう碇シンジ）と
バーベム財団のような裏組織の存在（エヴァでいうゼーレ）だけしか似ていないと思います。
具体的な理由を語らずにパクリと罵るのはどうかと思います。

偉そうな事を言ってすいませんでした。

まずこの作品を見ようと思うなら映画の多元変奏曲から観たほうが楽しめると思います。ネタばれが嫌いならお勧めはしませんが・・たぶん映画を先に見たほうが、よりＴＶ版を楽しめると思います。映画版は設定が微妙に違うのですがほとんど変わりないので映画を見た後、ネタばれしたからこそ、キャラクター達のお互いの立場、微妙な仕草が楽しめます。これも某アニメのマネと言う声もありますが最後まで見ると雰囲気は似ていても、まったく違う作品であると感じられると思いますのでぜひ観て下さい。山田章博先生のキャラデザは味があります。心理描写が時々入ってきたときチトしんどくなりますが素晴らしい作品です。
