今から見れば逆に新鮮な感じのする作品です。翻訳ポップスというのでしょうか。外国の曲に日本語の歌詞をつけてヒットした曲、それも女性歌手が歌った曲を集めています。江利チエミさんがパティ・ペイジの「テネシー・ワルツ」を進駐軍のキャンプで歌って人気がでて、それをレコード会社が売り出して日本中で大ヒット。戦場から故郷に引き上げてくる人たちの心を安らげました。全部で１７曲。一人一曲なので選曲する人も悩んだことでしょう。雪村いずみさんの「青いカナリヤ」越路吹雪さんの「バラ色の人生」ちょっと時代は下がって「可愛いベイビー」「ビー・マイ・ベイビー」「コーヒールンバ」などなど。テレサ・テンの「追憶」というのも面白いです。これが一番最近になるんでしょうか。コンピレーションとしてはちょっと面白い企画だと思いました。古くてもポップな感じのする選曲ですので若い方にもお勧めできます。昔もいい曲があったことを知ってほしい気がします。

日本がまだまだ「アメリカ」に強い憧れを抱いていた時代･･･

沢山のアメリカンポップスが、日本語に訳詞され、若者は束の間の
アメリカン気分に浸っておりました。

現在のように、気楽に海外旅行にいける時代でもありませんでしたから。

それだけに、当時の歌手は、責任が重かったわけか、すごく歌が上手い！

私はこの「ニッポンウーマン」シリーズで、日本人女性の歌唱力を見直し
ました。２枚とも、ステキな曲ばかりです。
