　さてこのディスクの見所は。
カツ暴走。
問題の人、ベルトーチカ・イルマ登場。
かのハサウェイ・ノア登場。
シャアさん、ロザミアさん、いったんさようなら。

しかしなんといってもこのディスクのではついにカミーユにとってのララア・スン、フォウ・ムラサムとの出会いの香港編に入ります。このエピソードはファンにもっとも人気の高いストーリーでしたね。
　しかしその良いストーリーが２分されるなんて・・・。DVD化の構成をもう少し考えてほしかったなあ。残念。

第５巻では、戦争に参加することを躊躇うアムロの葛藤が描かれており、不思議な運命と悲惨な因縁によって繋がれたアムロとシャアの会話はとても興味深かった。また、悲劇のヒロインとなるフォウ・ムラサメも登場しており、この辺りからストーリーがより一層重苦しいものとなってくる。

「君を笑いにきた」、「籠の中の鳥は鑑賞される道具でしかない」など、アムロに対するシャアの言葉は、はっきり言って性格が歪んでいるとしか思えない。カミーユやアムロと違って紳士ぶってる分、余計にタチが悪いとすら感じる。勿論、アムロにも問題はある。「シャアもハヤトもガンダムを若い奴に乗せて、俺を無視して！」と、彼は大人とは思えない台詞を吐く。７年という月日が流れているのに、その根暗な性格は改善されていない。だが、それは当然のことである。彼等は主人公の一人ではあるが、典型的なヒーローではない。普通の人間なのだ。だから他者を妬み、過去を引き摺り、自己嫌悪に陥る。サングラスを取り、感情的になってアムロと口論するシャアの姿を見ていると、彼も過去を引き摺る普通の人間であることがよく判る。そういった部分がしっかりと描かれているからこそ、この作品に込められたメッセージは普通の人間である私たちの胸に届くのだと思う。

カミーユをはじめとする『Z』の出演陣よりも、アムロやシャアに主眼を置いた作品が収録されているので、「１ｓｔ」が好きな方は楽しめる１本である。

　第15話「カツの出撃」のセリフ回しは難解だ。「誤解が生んだ想念が放出されたと思いたいな」のシャアのセリフは飛躍しすぎていると思う。いくら＜ニュータイプ＞といえども、そこまでは洞察できないだろっ、と思う。しかし、この第15話。キャラクターたちが、目でお芝居をしていて、それが素晴らしい。アニメでここまでやれる、それを実証して見せたのが、『Zガンダム』の功績だ。それには、高度な作画テクニックが必要なのだが、この第15話の作画監督は「エース」北爪宏幸氏。北爪「作監」だからこそできた、「目芝居」だ。

　第16話「白い闇を抜けて」も「北爪作監」ではないが、小林利充氏が頑張って、エレヴェーター内でのアムロとシャアの対峙、その「目芝居」を描ききっている。演出も素晴らしい。第16話の演出家、本橋鷹王氏。一体何者なのだろう？　著名な演出家のシャドー・ネームか？　それとも総監督の第3のシャドー・ネームか？　このDVD、ホンコン篇の序章も収録されているが、そんなことは気にすることなく、この第15，16話のグレードの高さを満喫すべし！！
