   1982年発表作品。井上陽水の80年代の代表作とうたわれるアダルト・オンリーな逸品である。あくまでもシンプルな言葉の羅列で、夜の静寂をぬって繰り広げられる大人の駆け引きや、秘めごとを表現しているのだが、これがお下劣にならないのが陽水の妙。気高さすら生み出しているのだがらスゴイ。頼むから、子どもは聴くな。<7>は後にTVドラマ「ニューヨーク恋物語」（1988年放送）の主題歌となり大ヒットを記録。<2>、<10>は、全詞曲を手掛けた沢田研二のアルバム『Mis cast.』（1982年）からのセルフ・カヴァー。（春野丸緒）

　前作でアダルトシュールな楽曲とバナナ仕掛けのサウンドを始動させた陽水氏だったが、今作はその延長線上にありつつも、アルバムとしてのまとまり感では、前作に勝っていると言える。ジェラシーをより歌謡風味にしたてたＭ１は、一度さったファンをさらに呼び戻し、新しいファンをも獲得した重要曲。そのおかげで、続くＭ２の本当にシュールな詞も、心地よいメロディーのおかげで生真面目な人でもあまり疑問を持たずに堪能させられるに違いない。Ｍ３、８はそれぞれ続く重要曲へのインタールード的役目をうまく果たしている佳曲。さて今回の一番の聞き所はなんといってもＭ４と９。どちらも深く深く考えさせられ、ドキッとさせられる曲だ。特に宮沢賢治から引用した後者は沢木耕太郎氏のバーボンストリートを読み、この歌が作られる背景を知ってより氏の天才ぶりを知ってほしい。他にはドアが金属のメタルを使用した川沿いにあるＭ７も準スタンダードナンバーの風格を持った名曲だし、沢田研二へのＭ１０もマリーナ・デル・レイより偏差値が高い。さらに妃殿下を歌ったＭ５も超１級の名バラードだ。

「スニーカーダンサー｣「あやしい夜を待って｣らと並び、
売れてないけど充実していた時期の一番の作品。
曲の派手さは前２作に譲りますが、陽水美学の到達点がこのアルバムにはあります。

1.「とまどうペリカン」のピアノのリリカルなイントロから、
その世界に紛れ込んでいきます。
4.「愛されてばかりいると」のイントロのフェイド・インは
その後に訪れる「言葉の洪水」を予感させて、聞くたびにぞくぞくします。
5.「カナリア」は名曲ですね。詞・曲ともに「内に秘めた想い」を
「カナリア」という言葉にのせて聞かせてくれます。
7.「リバーサイド ホテル」はヒット曲。
9.「ワカンナイ」の宮沢賢治がこんなにセクシーに聞こえてしまうのはなぜ？
10.「背中まで45分」は 陽水美学の到達点です。
