ミヤベ作品にここ２〜３年はまっていて、「クロスファイア」が一番最初に読んだ作品だった。
映画やドラマもほとんど見たが、そのすべてが駄作と言える出来。
唯一良作といえるのがこの作品だ。
原作では途中から同じ超能力者との関係に溺れていく主人公だが、
正直結末を描くために無理矢理あの展開に持っていった感じだった。

映画の中で同僚に想いを寄せる主人公の方がきわめて自然に感じた。
この作品は原作とは全く別の作品として鑑賞することを勧める。
ミヤベ作品はどれも複雑な人間関係が描かれているので、
これらをすべて表現するには恐らく今の日本人の監督では能力が足りないのだと思う。

それと「青木淳子」と「矢田亜希子」のイメージが違うという人が多いが、
若くてちょっと綺麗で、でも翳がある女性がイメージなら
「矢田亜希子」はよく演じていたのではないだろうか。

かなり酷評されてますが、アイドル映画(？)としては、結構いい出来じゃないですか。この作品より酷い邦画なんてヤマのようありますよ。全体を通して、主人公･青木淳子(矢田亜希子)の悲しい運命の雰囲気がよく描けていると思います。矢田亜希子は、こういう翳のある役だと結構いけるんじゃないでしょうか。伊藤英明の演技はイマイチですが、二人の“純愛もの”として考えれば、初々しく観れます。長澤まさみは、なかなか存在感があり、その後の活躍も納得させられます。それにしても、値段が高すぎると思う。

原作の心理描写にそったドラマを作りたいスタッフ側と、お手軽なアクション・エンタテインメントを要求する出資者側との狭間で、監督が脚本の取りまとめに大変苦労した話は、「シナリオ」誌のバックナンバーで読めます。
結果的に、やや力技ではありますが、それなりに、切なさをにじませたエンタテインメントになっています。
特撮も健闘。あの「バックドラフト」でも、炎をCGで描き足した箇所はハッキリそれとわかりますからね。この映画でも立派だと思います。
今思えば、長澤まさみの映画デビュー作としても貴重ですね。
（矢田亜希子も伊藤英明も好演ですが・・・）
