メンバー３人が同じ名古屋という地で出会いバンドを組んだ事自体が日本ロック史の奇跡と言ってもいいぐらい、ブランキーはロックの本質であるバンドマジックによって強烈な化学反応を起こし続けたバンドだったと思う。これからの日本でブランキーを超えるロックバンドはもう出てこないだろうと言い切れるほどだ。もちろん３人とも素晴らしいプレイヤーだが、１＋１＋１が１００にも２００にもなるのがブランキーだった。それはそれぞれのメンバーが解散後に組んだバンドやソロ作品を聴けばすぐに分かる。ファンの間でも賛否両論あった「SWEET DAYS」や「赤いタンバリン」、それとはメロディー的に全く違う方向の「ガソリンの揺れかた」、それら両方のメロディーをほぼ同じ時期に生み出すベンジーという才能を、狂気と気紛れなドラムスとクールで地鳴りのようなベースが全てを“ブランキーの音”に昇華させる。本当に奇跡としか呼びようのないバンドだった。解散を惜しむ気持ちは当然あるが、今はむしろ、こんな綱渡りのようにスリリングなバンドがこれだけ長く活動したことが、もうひとつの奇跡のように思える。

ブランキーをまず、どれから聴くか？
これって非常に難しい。ブランキーは個性の塊みたいなバンドだから、聴けば聴くほど味が出てくる。『幸せの鐘が~』は今では僕の大好きな作品だが、初めて聴いた時は最低だと思ったし、まあそういう音楽なんです（笑）
DVDも選択に入れていいなら間違いなくMONKEY STRIPなんですが。
普通まずはCDですよね。ってなわけでコレ。
初期みたいに複雑なアレンジの曲もないし、ただ単純にノレる。
ドライブなんかにはうってつけなんじゃないでしょうか。
昔からのファンが夢を見ていたヒットシングルも収録されてるし(笑)
まあコアなファンには物足りんですけどね~

まさにブランキー三昧って感じのアルバムで、ブランキーの良さを再認識させられる作品です。ホントにこんな骨太なロックバンドが解散しちゃったなんて信じられないくらい、いつ聴いても新鮮な曲ばっか。“ガソリンの揺れ方”も“赤いタンバリン”も“ＳＷＥＥＴ ＤＡＹＳ”も…また、切なげな詞がすごくカッコイイのです。ブランキーにあんまり興味がないって人でも、これはホントにロック・アルバムとしておすすめですね。
