【ストーリー】
密林奥地のジオン軍基地ではアイナをパイロットに新型器のテスト飛行が実施されていた。一方連邦軍基地内では、サンダースと07小隊の間でケンカが起こっていた。自分が所属する部隊がいつも3度目の出撃で全滅してしまうサンダースを07小隊がからかったのだった。シローは、サンダースに「そんなジンクスは吹き飛ばす！」と、第08小隊3度目の出撃を指揮する。

5.0 out of 5 stars 「ジンクス」と「夢」と「優しさ」, 2004/1/30
本巻はこの作品の起承転結でいえば承の部分にあたり、後半への重要な伏線となっています。この部分がどう繋がっていくのか理解できないと作品全体の意義を見失ってしまうでしょう。

第４話「頭上の悪魔」では、サンダースのトラウマともいうべき「ジンクス」が主要なテーマとなっています。また、アイナの乗るジオン軍の新型器アプサラスが登場するのも見所です。

第５話「破られた待機命令」では、エレドアの経歴やカレンの過去が徐々に明らかとなってきます。

第６話「熱砂戦線」では、ミケルやシローを中心に「襲痩感」を描いています。未熟な人間関係を描きつつも各自の持つ「優しさ」を巧く表現しています。

伏線としてこの作品に欠かせない３話だと思います。同様の理由でＣＤに収録されている６話「リポート1-1　被弾」「リポート1-2　整備部隊」「リポート1-3　もう一つの戦い」「レポート2-1　脱出」「レポート2-2　ゲリラという地球人たち」「レポート2-3　うめき」なども欠かせないでしょう。

第０８ＭＳ小隊シリーズでは地上がメインであり、初代ガンダムで出てきたジオンの「地上兵器」が結構出てきます。「破られた待機命令」では珍しいザクタンクが活躍し、なかなか面白い内容となっています。パッケージイラストにある大型の機動兵器が「頭上の悪魔」に初登場し、その戦闘シーンは圧巻です。このＤＶＤ内の３ストーリーは戦闘シーンだけでなく、小隊内のキャラの感情や人間性についての描写が細かく、ドラマとしても面白い仕上がりになっていると感じました。

シローとアイナの恋の行方が気になる反面、俺個人の意見としては、シローと山賊少女がくっついてほしかったので星４つ。ただ、ガンダムの地上戦闘シーンは天下一品！STARDASTMEMORYが宇宙戦のエキスパートなら地上戦はこれ。
