さまざまなステージに合わせて多彩な音を奏でる菅野よう子さんが、
コンピュータゲーム会社の「光栄(KOEI)」のゲームに用いるために作られた曲が収録されています。

ゲームの音楽ですが、当時のパソコンのスペックではこの作品に収録された曲の全てを再現できるわけもなく、
ゲームにはほとんど全ての曲がこの一部をアレンジして再現しています。

菅野よう子さんの曲の特徴がよく出ていてオリジナリティが高い、
非常に良質な曲が収録された作品となっています。

一部収録曲がかさなりますが「大航海時代 II スペシャルエディション」をお持ちの方には言うまでもなく、
恐らく管野よう子さん作品のなかで、唯一の制約のない「Song to fly」をお気に入りいただけた方にも、
是非お勧めしたい作品です。

　カウボーイビバップ、∀ガンダム、ブレンパワード、エスカフローネなど、多くのサウンドトラック作品を手がける菅野よう子さんの光栄時代の作品集。戦国シュミレーションの光栄「らしくない」曲を中心に集めた本CDは、逆に最も菅野よう子さん「らしい」作品集に仕上がっているのが面白い。
「マクロス・プラス」以前の菅野よう子さんを知りたいファンにはお勧めの入門アイテムになっています。

最近のアニメ寄りの菅野よう子にも共通しますが、昔から続けてる本人のメインとするピアノやキーボードの音の趣向が一番分かり安いアルバムとなっています。
とくに、名曲と呼ばれてる数々を抑えてあるので、これぞ菅野よう子の音というものを感じとれます。
この頃のコーエーは、アルバムそのものに一曲ずつレビューを載せていたり
ジャケットを見ても分かるように、ゲーム音楽というより生の音楽を楽しもうとするイメージも強いですね。
