   高知県土佐で青春時代を過ごした青年・拓が、帰省する飛行機の中で高校時代を回想していく。そのなかには、両親の離婚のため東京から引っ越してきた、成績・運動ともに優秀でありながらも、誰にも心を開こうとしない少女・里伽子の存在があった…。

   スタジオジブリの若手スタッフが中心となって作り上げた青春TVアニメ・ムービーで、後に劇場公開。監督は『めぞん一刻　完結編』などの望月智充が担当している。作画枚数など他のジブリ作品に比べると見劣りするが、そこを逆手にとっての淡々とした味わいが、独特の好ましい雰囲気を醸し出している。また、それは現代の若者ならではの淡白さをも露呈させているような気もしてならない。氷室冴子の原作は、その後武田真治主演によるTVドラマ化もなされている。（的田也寸志）

一番最初から耳にするサウンドが素直でいいです。
若き頃の夏の思い出が掘り起こされるような
・・・そんな感じでしょうか。
この作品を見終わった後、また必ず耳にしたくなります。

私はジブリ作品は全て見てきたつもりでしたが、
唯一この作品だけは見ていませんでした。
そんな人は他にもいるんじゃないかな？

この作品を知ったときは「ああ、こんなのもあったんだ」
という感じで気にも止めませんでした。
なぜなら、ありきたりの青春ドラマのようで、
みるのが億劫だったからです。
しかし、そんな考えは実際見てからあっさり覆されました。「他のジブリ作品とは見劣りするが・・・」そんなこと絶対にないです！

簡単に言えば、作品の主旨は男と女の淡い恋模様ですが、
その関係は遠すぎず、近すぎず、それに尽くさず、
といった感じで見る者の心をしっかり捉えます。
・・これは見た人だけが分かるでしょう。

遠い夏の思い出に何かを忘れてきたあなた、
最近海を眺めたことが無いあなた
にぴったりの作品です。
あ、それとジブリを極めたい人にもね！！

すごく良い作品だと思います、何かすごい懐かしい感じの雰囲気がするのは気のせいでしょうか？見ていて自分が引き込まれそうになりそうな位です、少し切なくて甘い感じの物語。

登場人物の雰囲気や話の内容など全てにハマリました。
なんていうか私の育ってきた環境と作品の中の環境はまったく違うはずなのに、なぜか「なつかしい」という感じです。
文庫も出ていますがこちらもとても楽しめました。挿絵が描かれているので、人物の動きが想像しやすいです。早くDVD化してくれることを願っています。
