大阪の西萩に住む竹本チエは、小学５年生にして家業のホルモン焼き屋を切り盛りしている。そんなチエの父親テツは、バクチとケンカが趣味という、とんでもない不良中年。母親ヨシ江は、テツに愛想をつかして家を出ている。何とかお母はんに帰ってきてほしいチエは、テツを就職させようとあれこれ知恵をめぐらす。果たして「親子３人で暮らしたい」というチエの願いは叶うのか？・・・
大人気の漫画のアニメ化ですが、ほとんど原作と変わらずにストーリーが進められているので安定感があります。笑いと人情たっぷりの物語ながら、時に泣かせてくれるエピソードもあって、「ええ話やなぁ」としみじみ感動してしまいました。

台詞は全部関西弁ですが、何の違和感もありません。それもそのはず、声優には西!川のりおさん、京唄子さん、島田紳助さん、桂三枝さん、笑福亭仁鶴さん、芦屋雁之助さんなど、豪華なメンバーが揃っているのです。そして猫のアントニオJrと小鉄には、伝説の漫才師、横山やすしさんと西川きよしさんが声の担当をされています。絵柄もスッキリしていて、チエちゃんも可愛いです。ストーリーも声優も一流の映画だと思います。
