実は自分はそんなに押井守ファンという訳ではないのですが、
この監督は「うる星やつら」の頃から一種独特の世界観をもってる人だな・・とは感じていた。
アニメージュに連載していた漫画「とどのつまり・・・」にも、その独特さ（わからなさ）はありました。
難解・・というより、なまじ監督の思想を読み取ろうとか理解しようというのが、この人の
作品を観る上では無茶な話なのかもしれない。
私がこの「紅い眼鏡」を観たのは２０代の頃、当時住んでたアパートの近くにあったレンタルビデオ店
で借りたのが最初でしたが、ストーリーのわからなさなど気にならないほどの強烈な印象に、何度も
繰り返し観たものです。
荒廃した未来観、６０年代とか７０年代の場末な風景、廃墟、アングラ劇・・・etc
ちりばめられた押井個人的趣味嗜好世界的絵図は「わからない事」度外視で楽しめました。
また、当時乗りに乗っていた声優さんが大勢顔出しで『紅眼』ワールドをうごき回ってるのが
嬉しい限りなのであります。
ちょっと観る人を選ぶ感のある作品かもしれませんが、評価は星４つで。
天本さんの演技も涙モノです（もう、こういう御姿は観られないだけに・・）

　押井守､初の実写作品です｡某雑誌に押井監督の作品は原作者の世界観に負う所が大きい､などと書かれていましたがそんなことありません｡

　確かに原作付きの雇われ監督の立場ほうが､無難で売れる作品を製作しています｡しかし､押井監督の真骨頂はその才能を究極的にまで暴走させたオリジナルにあります｡はるか彼方まで暴走した悪ノリは地平線を越えて御山の向こうまで突き進み､空に駆け上がり遠いお空のお星様になります｡実際､この映画から２本も続編が作られるなど当時､誰が考えたでしょう｡
　作品はモノクロで１部カラーになります｡リュック･ベンソンの｢最後の戦い｣に影響されたのでしょうか｡どちらも近未来の世界ですし｡このへんが後に｢アヴァロン｣に繋がっていくようです｡
　!!主演は千葉繁､音楽は川井憲次と押井色が濃厚の中､脇役に天本英世が｢立ち食いのプロ｣として登場｡

押井守、初の実写映画監督作品である。
公開当初、注目度はまだまだ低く、
キネカ大森という小さな映画館でもガラガラだったと記憶している。

初監督、かつ低予算で製作されたため、
粗い部分があることは否めない。
しかし虚構/現実、立喰師、犬といった押井ワールドを
彩るキーワードはこの頃から全開であり、
何より盟友川井憲次と初タッグながら
その音楽世界との相性は完璧であった。
