　陽水の初期の曲は、なつかしく。現代のナンバーは、安心して聴く事ができます。このアルバムは、両者を兼ねそろえたもので、懐かしい中にも安心して聴く事ができます。
　「少年時代」「リバーサイドホテル」などは、陽水のオリジナル曲として現代的な曲です。
　パフィーの「アジアの純情」、中森明菜の「飾りじゃないのよ涙は」、ほかに「ワインレッドの心」や「ダンスはうまく踊れない」など、カバーされた曲を、陽水のオリジナルとして歌い上げているのは、大変心地よい限りです。
　デビュー当時から現代に至るまでの、メロディ・メーカーとしての陽水を聴く事ができるアルバムです。

デビュー当時の曲から現在までの楽曲を収録した、２枚組みのベストアルバムである。収録されている全３５曲に渡って井上陽水の世界を味わうことができるが、何度繰り返し聴いても全く聴き飽きるということがない。彼の凄さを改めて感じることができた。「ＧＯＬＤＥＮ　ＢＥＳＴ」というアルバムタイトルがバッチリあっている。これは絶対に買いです。

今まで沢山陽水のベストは出たけど、どれも納得のいくようなものではなかったように思う。それがこのベストではキャリアの長い井上陽水の全時代からのベストが聞ける。「アルバムまでは買わないけど、聞くのは好きなアーチスト」というのは、必ず誰にでもいると思う。井上陽水をそんな感じで受け止めている「若い」世代にも、このベストはとても向いていると思う。サウンドもクリアだし、個人的には選曲が好きだ。癒しでもありシニカルでもあり棘もある、不思議なアーチスト井上陽水。買って絶対に損はしないと思う。
