「夕立ち」「グッド・バイ」「ふたりのかげ」など、歌詞もメロディも素晴らしく、かつシングルになっていない名曲もめじろ押しの、最高作といえるアルバム。アレンジと楽曲は、ちょっとヘヴィだった前作『FAMILY』より、生の楽器のひとつひとつの音が際立って練り上げられた感じ。スガ氏の片腕、キーボード森俊之さんのプレイも最高です。

スガシカオのサードアルバム。
最近シングルが全部入ったベストが発売されて、注目を浴びる彼だが、自分の中ではこの「Sweet」が何よりのベストだし、ナンバー１。

最も大好きな３曲目「夕立ち」は初めてライブで聴いた時、イントロだけで震えあがって涙が出た。ファンの間でも人気の高いこの曲は、このアルバムしか収録されていないし、ゼヒ聴いてもらいたい。私はこの曲を越える曲は無いと思うくらい。

一般に、スガシカオというと「詞が良い」と判を押したように言われる。でも、それはかなり違うと思う。良いんじゃない、「スゴイ」のだと。

「前よりもほんのちょっとだけ広いマンションで
年齢を偽った中くらいの女と暮らした
その女はいつもビスケットをかじっていて
毎晩ぼくは性交を求めてきた」

これは５曲目に収録されている名曲「３１０」の一部。
こんなのを日本でで書ける人は居ないし、まず書かない（そして売れない）。
そして「曲」として昇華出来るのも彼だけだと思う。

スガシカオには単純なラブソングも存在しない。でも心象をえぐったり、特異な表現をするだけではなくて、独特な感性をポジティブに表現した暖かい曲もある。

「Sweet」はそれらを一番実感できる、捨て曲無しのアルバム。

５点満点では足りない。人生至上最高の一枚です。

「あまり果実」のイントロも格好いいが（偶然の産物らしいが）
「夕立」の叙事的なアプローチは素晴らしい。
歌詞の世界も楽しんで頂きたい。
