　マネージメントやメンバー間のゴタゴタをJOHN　WETTON復帰、STEVE　HOWE脱退、若手ギタリストMANDY　MEYER加入という形で乗り越え、制作された’８５年発表の３rd。
　発売当時は売り上げが悪く、結果、長期の活動停止状態に陥ってしまうのだが、そうなってしまったのが信じられないくらいの素晴らしい内容である。
　WETTON／DOWNESのコンビによるソングライティングの能力は、ついに頂点に達したかのような、前２作を上回る出来栄え。バラエティ豊かな楽曲に、恐ろしいまでに劇的で感動的なメロディが目白押しだ。
　アレンジ面では、必要以上に大仰になり過ぎないよう無駄な装飾を省いてシェイプ・アップされ、壮大でありながらスッキリとした作りになっている。
　ここで生きているのが新加入のM．MEYERで、ストレートでハードなギター・プレイは、本作の性質上、むしろ前任者よりも適任で、楽曲に絶妙に溶け込んでいる。
　幾ら賛辞を並べても足りないくらいの大傑作だが、前述した売上げ不振により、正当な評価を得られないまま今日までに至っている。
　まさしく隠れた名盤となってしまっているが、その魅力は今後も色あせることはないだろう。

　元YESのギタリストで人気者だったスティーヴ・ハウが脱退。プログレ・ファンの一部が離れたため、セールス的には前2作（「ASIA」「ALPHA」）には及ばなかった本作。しかし、このバンドでスティーヴ・ハウが果たしていた役割は「単なるギタリスト」。重要曲の殆どをジョン・ウェットン／ジェフ・ダウンズの2人で作っていたため、曲のクオリティに於いて、スティーヴ・ハウ脱退の影響は全くない。ハード・ロッカーの新ギタリスト、マンディ・メイヤーの加入により、ハードさが増し、切れがあってカッコいいポップ・ソング群に仕上がっている。

　クラシカルなキーボードのイントロに続いてスタートするオープニング曲「GO」は、コーラス（日本で言うサビ）が Go! 一言しかないのだが、とても良い曲に仕上がっている。ヴァースをじっくり引っ張って、コーラスは Go! と裏メロだけに留めている、ちょっと変わった構成の曲だ。DEEP PURPLEの「ANYA」あたりに近い。軍隊が行進するような連続音のバックもハードで◎。
　「ラジオから懐かし声が流れてきた」と歌う「VOICE OF AMERICA」も優しい中に力強さのある名曲だし、何となくアニメの戦闘モノに出てきそうな「AFTER THE WAR」のメロディーも、描写力抜群で◎。イントロの部分はTVのBGMとかでも良く耳にする。

　キャッチーで、はっきりしたメロディーは元BUGGLESのジェフ・ダウンズの得意技で、ジョン・ウェットンがソロで書くメロディーより、もう少し瑞々（みずみず）しい。ウェットンだけのソロだとちょっと渋すぎてASIAのワクワクするような感動に薄い。人間的にはソリの合わないこの2人だが、やっぱり2人セットじゃないとASIAじゃないなぁ、と改めて思った。
