分単位で読めてしまうが、ナマのアインシュタインの言葉はやはり素晴らしい。これは思わず耳を傾けてしまう、魅力に満ち満ちた素晴らしい言葉の集まりである。

「常識とは、18歳までに身に付けた偏見のコレクションのことをいう」
「私は先のことなど考えたことがありません。すぐに来てしまうから」

「我々はいろいろなことをするが、なぜそうするのかを知らない」

などなど、どれをとっても考えさせられる言葉である。
しかしこの本には不満がある。この本は全訳ではなく編集者が心に響くものを選りすぐって再構成してあることである。なんでそんな勝手なことをするのだろうか。そういうのは読者にゆだねるべきなのだ。

それぞれの言葉一つ一つに深みがあるというか、考えさせられるというか、とにかくおもしろい。｢アインシュタインって哲学者だったかな？｣と思うほど、下手な哲学者が書いた本よりもよっぽどいい。

ただひとつ気に入らないのは、私は原文も読んだのだが、和訳される段階でアインシュタイン本当の（英語での）言葉の中にある独特のユーモアが少し消されているような気がする。やはり英語を完全に日本語に変えるというのは無理がある。

共感することばがいくつかありました。
特にがんばっている人に読んでいただきたい。
音楽している人にも読んでもらいたい。
数学者で哲学者、という人は何人もいます。
多くのことを考え、悩み、自分の時間を持っている人は
立派な哲学者だと思います｡

15分で読めます｡でも読み終わった後、ずっと楽しめます｡
