近年、日本人の間では社会問題の検討に対して「正義・公正」が重要な評価軸として浮上してきた。何をもって公正と判断するか、公正判断の仕組みはどのようになっているか、また、公正や不公正の評価は、人々の社会的態度や行動にどのような変化をもたらすのか。我々は、社会的公正感は人々と所属集団（国、地域、会社など）を結びつける絆の役割を果たすという「公正の絆仮説」を立てて、その検討を試みてきた。本書は日本人の公正感に関する我々の理論的・実証的研究をまとめたものである。
