部屋に置いておいたら、目に留めた人全てが手に取って開き読み始め、「いい本だなぁ」と絶賛しました。収納術だけでなく、整理整頓、心地良い住まいの作り方、何より「住」というものについて学べる素晴らしい１冊です。
まずはセンスが良く、それぞれ見ているだけで心地よくなるようなすっきりと片付いたインテリアの写真をパラパラと眺め、そのあとは著者が書かれている通り、１番はじめのページからじっくり文章を読まれることをオススメします。
モノの捨て方にはじまって、目につく場所にモノを置くということはどういうことか、モノの飾り方、整理整頓・収納のルール、リフォーム時の計画の立て方など等、あらゆるスタイルのインテリア実例と共にかのコンラン氏が教えてくれます。
私は「収納」を考えるよりもモノを減らすことを考える方が好きなのですが、家に住まう上で収納はどうしたって不可欠。それでもその収納だって何だって、ただ利便性や実用性だけを重視するのは絶対イヤ・・・この本はまさに理想の本でした。収納・そうじ・捨てることなどについて数多の本が出ていますが、この本にはそれらのどれにもない、世界的インテリアブランドのデザイナーならではの視点があり、人が主体となってその住まいに住む、ということについて、まるで住まいに住まわされているかのような現代の日本人に意識改革を促してくれているように思います。
「住」についての考え方が変わり、心地良い住空間は他の誰でもなく自分でつくっていくものだと日々工夫するようになりました。高価な大型本ではありますが、何度も何度も読み返したい魅力があります。

もちろん、レイアウトに使われている小物のセンスは自然でとっても素敵です。
でも、収納にも技術やコツがあります。それが、端的に説明されています。
色の組み合わせも、素晴らしい！

コンランショップやコンラン卿プロデュースのHABITATの
ショップのインテリアイメージとはかなり違います。

コンランショップはモダンで、洗練されたインテリアイメージ
ですが、紹介されている写真はすっきりしたものではありません。
収納本ですから、多少は仕方ないと思いますが、書籍の
収納にしても、なんとなく雑多・・・
しかも、日本のような地震国では危険です（^^;）

収納法自体は確かに納得する点も多々ありますが、
これらは日本人の書いた書籍でも十分に事足りますし、
どちらかというと日本の環境に合った書籍の方が
幾分ましな気がします。
