子ギツネ:ファーディのみずみずしい感性にハッとさせられました。
秋から冬へとうつりかわる季節をはじめて体験するファーディ。
我々は経験から、冬のあとに暖かい春がくることをわかっています。

しかし、そんなことを知らないファーディは目に映る自然のすがたを
感性のままに受け止め行動するんです。
彼が友達になった大きな木。友達といってもお互いに会話するわけでなく、
木は木として描かれているところがポイント。

その大きな木に着いていた、つやつやの緑の葉っぱが、やがて変色し
カサカサになって落ちていく姿をみて、病気になってしまったと
ファーディは思うんですね。どうにかして葉がおちるのをふせごうとする
姿にジーンとさせられました。

ところが、自然の摂理には逆らえず、彼の奮闘もむなしい結果に。
もちろんこのあと春が来て、大きな木にも新芽が生えるところまで描けば、
彼も、大丈夫だったんだねと、安心することでしょう。
しかし、作者はそのシーンをあえて描かずに、別のアッと言わせる手法で
自然からのメッセージをファーディに伝えました。

ファーディの感性を通し、自分の心と素直に向き合うことを教えてくれる作品。

　こぎつねファーディの友達は、大きな木。秋になり、落葉し始めた大きな木を見て、ファーディはとても心配になります。
　ファーディのあどけない、素直な姿がとてもかわいらしく、一生懸命木を守ろうと一途なところが、また、微笑ましくもあります。
　森の動物や木や風の描写が瑞々しく、秋から冬への季節の移ろいをやさしい色で描いています。
　最後のページがとても綺麗で、こどもとふたりで思わず見入ってしまいました。

落ち葉の季節になり、きつねの子ファーディは、友達の木のことが心配でなりません。
色づく葉を見ては心配し、落ち葉を見ては何とか食い止めようと必死です。
「だいじょうぶだよ。まもってあげるからね。」という木への語りかけの温かいこと。
奮闘むなしく、木は冬のはじめに全て落葉してしまいますが、最後のページにすてきな仕掛けが。小さなお子さんはきっと喜ぶのではないでしょうか。
我が家の小３の息子さえも、最後のページには「あっ！」と声をあげました。
