これは面白い作品に出会った。作者森恒二は、朝日新聞のコミック評で自殺島 1 (ジェッツコミックス)を知り、そこからこの作品に行き着いた。
路上に巣くう不良（古い言葉だなあ）少年達のいまどきの生態という面でも、また、単純に格闘技を身につけていくいじめられっ子、と言う面でも興味深いが、世をすねてでも受け入れたいと思うストイックな少年が拳一つをパスポートにしてストリートに出て行く様は、ちょうど今野敏の復讐―孤拳伝〈1〉 (中公文庫)のようで、とても興味深い。

まだ第一巻の本作では、何故彼がこう言うように「強く」なってきたのか、そこらあたりは見えないまま。
これは、続巻が楽しみで、うれしい作品に出会った。
☆一個少ないのは、まだ作者森恒二の作風に慣れてない部分があるのと、自殺島の強烈な印象が抜けきってないからだと思って下さい。

誰でも一度ぐらいは、家や学校や会社にいたくないと
思ったことがあるんじゃないでしょうか？
この漫画の主人公もそんな人間です。

その主人公のいじめられっこの高校生が、護身のつもりで
ボクシングの本で勉強して、相手を殴ったことをきっかけ
に街の喧嘩にのめりこんでいく。
その中で、相手に怪我をさせたときの嫌悪感や、喧嘩が
好きじゃないはずなのに喧嘩に勝ったときの高揚感
（自分は楽しんでるのか？！という葛藤）や
それがきっかけで、誰かに声をかけられた時の
（仲間や居場所ができた）うれしさみたいな心情に
シンパシーを感じました。

あとは、作者の経験と思われるリアルな喧嘩シーンや
作者の突込みがなかなかいいですね。
（ちなみに設定はたぶん15年以上前ぐらいか？
当時の不良はタイマンとか面子にこだわってた
ので当時のリアルさなんでしょうね）

お勧めですよ。

まず、ストーリーが良くできていると思う。
先にコメントした方々がストーリーを説明してるので略します。
暴力に対する作者の考えや、主人公ユウの葛藤など、
現代の若者達が一度や二度経験したことがある内容だと思います。
格闘技に対する説明もしっかりされていて、イラストでも描かれて
いて、わかりやすくなっています。

しかし、私がもっともこの本に注目して欲しいのは、本のカバーに
書かれている作者の言葉です。
この言葉で私は勇気付けられました。
