『食人』について調べている方には、とにかくオススメな一冊です。
きっとこれがないと始まらないと思います。

そこいらのチープなものと比べてもその差は歴然。
豊富で貴重な資料を元にかかれた、食人の歴史、事件、行為の行われている分布図、はては食べる部位の意味合いなどについて詳しく書かれています。
また、「食人とはどういった行為なのか？」といった単純かつ深い疑問から「食人は野蛮で悪の行為なのか」「食人をする意味とは？」といった永遠のテーマなどについても深く言及されおり、読み応え抜群です。

図や写真も100点以上と参考にはうってつけですが、本物の死体写真等もあるので、グロテスクなものが苦手な方はご注意ください。
それでも大丈夫！という方は是非ご一読を。

落ちました。
「そもそも食人とは何なのか？」「はたして食人は本当に野蛮な行為なのか？」ということが詳しく書かれており、食人に興味ある人にとっては面白いと思います。
ただ、いかんせん翻訳本であり、読みにくいことは確か。また、グロテスクな絵，写真も多くあり、読む人を選ぶ本かと…。

本書の題名はかなり衝撃的である。
内容はさらに衝撃的かも知れない。
そして著者の主張は最後の最後まで明らかにされない。

本書は強烈な文明批判の一書である。

我々は今のまま牛肉を食べ続けることはできない。今の三分の一の量の牛肉（週２回150gずつを１００億の人が摂取する場合）の生産には１０億頭の牛と１０億ﾍｸﾀｰﾙの土地がいる。そんな土地は地球上には無い。
著者は言う。

「来るべき食糧恐慌を克服するには”産業化され規制された罪悪感のない食人”が不可欠。そのためには1人体の非神聖化2人体の商品化3社会的指示と中立性4嫌悪感の一掃が不可欠。そしてそれらの条件はすでに整っている」

胎盤ビジネス、移植医療というビジネス、胎児や精子・卵子を取り扱うビジネス、そしてますます盛んになるDNAビジネス。そんなものにあまり嫌悪感を抱かなくなった我々はすでに”食人世界”の入口に立っていると。

脳死法案が何となく”ヌルリ”と通ってしまったような国では、いつか人肉食が法的に認められるのかも知れない。本書の本当の価値が明らかになるのはそんな近未来のことかも知れない。
