私は今までに何百冊というビジネス書を読んだり、自分の思っている内容の書籍を探したりしてきましたが、ついに世に出てしまったかと思ってしまったほどです。実際に読んでみると、本当にすばらしい！正直この本が出てほしくなかったくらいの宝の山が詰まった本です。　私の感想として、特に不動産と医療・ヘルスケアの章はぜひ読んで我々日本人もがんばってもらいたいものです。日本人ではなかなか見えなかった、いや見ることさえしなかった部分を的確にフォーカスしてリサーチされ情報を提供してくれていると思います。この本が今世に出てきたことに感謝！

　外国人の視点から日本社会や制度の欠陥を指摘した本は多いが、本書はジャーナリストや学者ではなく、実際に日米で活躍する起業家が他の外国人起業家に取材して書いたもの。二人の著者は共に日本に長く暮らし、日本人女性と結婚しているだけに、あからさまに日本社会を批判する同種の書籍とは違い、「日本は素晴らしい国、だがこんな隙間がありますよ」と言う。筆致は冷静だが情報は多く非常に読み応えがある。

　特に日本は長らく製造業中心の国(これは明治以来の国策でもあったが)で逆にサーヴィス業には弱点があるとか、官僚主導の規制をはずせば消費者はもっと便利になる点など、具体的かつ詳細にレポートされていて社会政策提言の本としても読める。

本質的なサービス分野に対して、

欲求不満解決＝ビジネスチャンスを経て、
日本がより良くなる！！！

一億総思考停止状態、かつ、文化が均質でメディアが寡占状態にあるニッポンほど、
ビジネスを始めやすい国はない・・・！　サービス分野におけるプロフェッショナルの不在を鋭く突き、逆にビジネスチャンスと捉えるアウトサイダー視点を解説した良書。

サービス分野に関しては鎖国状態の超ドメスティック大国ニッポン。
お役所の権威のもと、偉そうな顔をしてあぐらをかいてのさばっているが、少しフタを開けてglobal standardの視点に立って眺めてみれば、実は、実力は新人社員級…！！
その様子を、金融の項では巨大戦艦（＝日本の金融）が最新鋭のジェット機（＝外国人起業家）にヤラれていく様子を、不動産の項では超ドメ大国ニッポンへの黒船到来、と非常に分かりやすく書かれていて興味深かった。特に、不動産の項では、ゴールドマンサックス・モルガンスタンレーといった外資系金融がどのようにして日本で荒稼ぎしているのかが書かれてあり、とても参考になった。

ベンチャー起業に際しては、次の一文が、最も参考になった。

“自分の経験を通じ、かつまた他人の経験をつぶさに観察し、不愉快・面倒・悲惨な問題に気付くことだろう。さらに、幅広い下調べをして、それが大きく広がっている問題であることを確かめ、解決法solutionを編み出す。”P.226

やはり、問題点の解決こそが、ビジネスチャンスなんだ、ということ再確認できた。

また本書で紹介されていた“海外での成功事例を見出して日本に持ち帰る”というやり方や、“global standardのサービス技術と手法に通じた鋭敏な外国人と協力する”という働き方は、非常に強力かつ魅力的だと思った。そのためにも、英語を始めグローバルに活躍できる素質を、自分の強みとして一層磨き続けようと決意を新たにした。
