　　蕾を見て、桜を見て、葉桜を見て、目を見張るような青葉の季節を迎え、それらを感じる心を表す為にこういう言葉があるのだなあと、思いました。言い表せない気持ちを表す為にこういう言葉があるのかと思いました。日常生活ではなかなか使う時がない言葉が多いですが、言葉の美しさというのは、それを感じ表現する心の美しさなのかもしれないと思う本でした。価格のわりにしっかりした作りの本で、多少、ページをめくりにくい感がありますが言葉を扱う本として長く手元に置くことを考えると、良い本だと思います。帯に「恋愛力をアップする」と書いてありましたが、これはこの本には必要ではないように思います。こういう言葉を素直に美しいと思う気持ちが行動に現れるのではないでしょうか。

　ずいぶんと手間、ひまのかかっている本である。それぞれの言葉に、そのために作った詩が添えられ、流れるような説明文が次につづく。各ページの地（背景）は色紙を貼りつけたようなデザインである。章立ては、四季に分かれ、さらに各季節に天候の章があり、他には恋の章などがある。日本語帳と帳面の一種と、控えめにいっているけど、とんでもないすごいセンスあふれる本です。

　説明文は、『日本人が忘れてはいけない美しい日本の言葉』（青春新書）のような、語源、言葉の成り立ち、使われ方という形の「静、学者、長老」を思わせる文章はなく、詩歌のような生き生きとした「なまめかしさ、妙齢の詩人」を感じる文章なので、そのときの気分の有り様に合わせて、読み分けると楽しい。
　例えば、「面影」は、４行の詩のあと、説明はこう続く「恋の言葉としての面影は、記憶に残っている恋人の顔や姿のこと。あるいは恋人を思い起こさせるよすがとなる印象や雰囲気をいいます。単なる顔や姿でも、「面影」、「俤」、「おもざし」などという言葉を使うと、格段にゆかしく、趣深く思えるのは不思議なことです。…（以下略）」―こういう調子なのです。豊潤な日本語の世界にどっぷり浸かったような気分です。

　花衣、雲の峰など、･･･見たことのない、それでいてどこか懐かしい日本語が次々とつづく。この語はどんな説明をしてくれるのかと、想像するだけでわくわくしてくる。ページを繰るのが惜しくなる気分になるのは珍しい。それでいて、この安さ。

　詩を作ったり、作詞する人は、もう手放せなくなると思います。
　難をいえば、紙がちょっと硬いのと、白すぎてまぶしいこと、索引がなくて残念なことです。ソフト面は星５つ、ハード面で星３つ、総合で星４つとします。
