雷のお母ちゃんが「あんた、どこに行くの？」お父ちゃん「おうよ、ちょっくら雲に乗ってゴロゴロさせてくらあ」、お母ちゃん「じゃあ子供も連れて行ってよ！」お父ちゃん「えー、まだよちよち歩きじゃねえか、連れてくの嫌だよ」お母ちゃん「そういってないで、連れてってよ」
と、とても庶民的なやりとりで始まります。お父ちゃんは子供に（人間で言うと1歳半くらいだと思われます）、「虎のふんどししめてやるから、しっかりついて来いよ」といい、小さな太鼓を持たせ、一緒に連れ出しますが、雷の赤ちゃんはどうも危なかしい。よちよち歩きながらポカポカ、コロコロ鳴らしているうちに、雲の切れ目から落ちてしまいます。ひゅー、と落ちて、下界で昼寝していた虎の頭にドカーン！とぶつかり、虎はものすごく怒ります。「何のつもりだ！食べちゃうぞ！ガオオー」雷の赤ちゃんは「わーん助けてー、ぼくのふんどしがいじめるよー」、ここでお終い。果たして赤ちゃんは助かったのか、虎はどうしたのか、説明は無しです。最初読んだときは、オチがないのであせりましたが、いまは息子と「このあと、どうしたと思う？」「雲の上に帰ったんじゃない？」「お父ちゃん、助けにきたかな？」等、結末を想像する方向で締めくくっています。
