この画文集はおすすめです。
僕自身はもっていませんが、
嫌なことがあった時。悲しいことがあった時。疲れた時。
自宅の最寄りの駅で降り、近くの図書館に行き、パラパラっとこの画文集を見てから家に帰るようにしています。

スタジオジブリのあの世界は、実はふだんの何気ない生活の中にあったりするんだなあ、と感じさせてくれます。

そんな画文集だと僕は思います。
ここに描かれている風景が、懐かしい一昔前の風景になってほしくないと思うと同時に、いつまでも日本の風景はこのこの画文集のままでいてほしいなあ、と思います。

耳をすませばで初監督をなさりジブリを支えてきた近藤さんが亡くなったのはもう五年前の事です。その近藤さんがメインの出版物はこの本のほかにインターネットでの販売しているものなどもありますが厳密に言うのならばこの本だけです。言葉で言うのが難しいのですが見た後なんかほのぼのした気持ちになります。どこかこんな風景がありそうで、でも今見るとどこか懐かしくなります。書かれたのがもう十年も前の風景なので。この本をみると近藤さんのお人柄が分かるようで近藤さんはどんな顔をしてこの絵をお書きになっていたのだろうか書いている近藤さんが目に浮かんでくるようなそんな本です。きっと見た後に私が言っていることが理解してもらえるかと思います。

私はずいぶん前に放送したアニメ“赤毛のアン”が大好きでした。話の内容も然る事ながら、キャラクターの生き生きとした表情がずっと心に残ったのです。そのキャラクターデザインをしたのが近藤喜文さんだと知ったのは、ずいぶん後になってからでした。近藤さんは他にもたくさんのアニメを手がけており、これほど生き生きとしたキャラクターを描ける人はあまりいないでしょう。そんな近藤さんが残した唯一の画集です。色鉛筆で描かれた子供たちが、今にも動き出しそうなくらい生き生きと描かれています。また、絵の端に書かれているコメントもなかなかです。
