原作が「改悪されているのではないか」という恐怖に震えながら買っ
た1巻が良いほうに裏切られて、続いて買った2巻。
相変わらず見事です。
確かに原作とは違ったところはあります。
が、しかし違和感がない！
もし原作で書かれていたならこの漫画のような描写になっていたので
はないか、というくらい違和感がないです。
原作のあるものを漫画版やドラマ版、アニメ版にすると、酷いのにな
ると、作品名と登場人物名、大まかな設定を原作から持ってきただけ
で中身はまったく別物、原作者を馬鹿にしているのではないかと思わ
れる作品が大手を振ってまかり通る中、この作品は原作に忠実でわか
りやすく、かつ違和感のない独自描写もある原作に対する愛が感じら
れる読んでいて気持ちよい（グロシーンのことは言ってません）作品
です。
3巻が実に楽しみです。

海洋によって隔てられ、
長年平和の中にあった新興国「皇国」に対して、
突如大陸から超大国「帝国」が侵攻を開始した。
主人公の新城直衛は皇国の中尉として帝国を迎え打つ。
第二巻では負け戦による北領からの撤退戦で、
新城中尉は隊を率いる者としての責務を果たす。

二十世紀初頭のような時代設定でのリアルな戦争の中で、
本作では最前線の隊長という、
上司としての立場、
部下としての立場、
そして一人の人間としての立場、
という異なった三つの立場有する、
複雑な軍人の心理が丁寧に描かれていて、
納得させられる作品です。
次々とやってくる決断の時、
その決断の裏には様々なものが隠されて、
その全てを知ることができる読者の胸には、
熱いものが込み上げてくるでしょう。

戦争物が好きな方はもちろんのこと、
そうでない方も組織の中での自己の立場のあり方、
について興味がある方にもおすすめの作品です。

5.0 out of 5 stars じっくり、きっちり描かれる物語。, 2005/9/18
さらに2巻は面白い!!です。　原作小説は読んでおりませんが、戦争用語というか、専門用語と言い回しで、これが文章だけなら、（軍事モノに興味の無い私としては）戦況を理解する前に本を投げていたでしょうが、作画で状況を理解しやすいので物語にも入っていき易いです。圧倒的な負け戦という厳しい戦況がじっくり語られきっちり説明されるので、この戦況を民間・兵にもあまり犠牲を出さず何とか生き延びたい、という階級の低かった主人公が才によって成り上がるのは読んでいて気持ちがヨイです。また、敵国のお姫様指揮官もカッコよくて、こちら側もしっかり描かれているので、緊張感が増幅します。騎馬と銃剣と大砲で戦争している時代で、さらに龍と世界が契約するというファンタジー要素あり。個人的には1巻の終わりの方に出てきた怪我をした龍が気になっていましたが2巻には出てこず残念でした。じっくり描かれていて進行具合がじれったくなりますが既に次巻も待ち遠しい日々です。
