医療の場で、コンプライアンスがアドヒアランスと変化していく時、心の病理的な側面に焦点をあてた臨床心理学より、心のポジティブな側面つまり建設的で積極的な側面に焦点を当てた健康心理学が必要とされるようになる。その、そこそこ25年程度の歴史しか持たない健康心理学についての入門書です。
病気を診るのではなく、その背景にある患者の心と身体をみるための手法や考え方が記されていて、なるほどなと頷ける分析や理論が掲載されています。
喫煙、飲酒、肥満などに対する個人の心の状態も端的に示しているので、これから節制する人、節制を薦める人にもお薦めの本です。

　深酒、喫煙、過食。
　現代に生きる我々はやたら退廃的なるものに囲まれ、それを排除して生活することの難しさに、
既に抵抗を諦めているかのようだ。
　そんな読者に贈るはずの、健康心理学の草分である著者によるこの本、学生相手の講義のようで、
今一つの感じ。
　段階的変化モデルによると、無関心期、関心期、準備期、実行期、維持期があるという。
　例えて言うなら、この本を読むからには、読者はすくなくとも関心期以上のステージにいるはずだ。
　私は、そのステージをひとつ上げてくれる様な本であると誤解をしていたようだ。
　読者層の想定が不十分で、結果、論点が散漫になっているのではなかろうか。
　ちょっと残念。

禁煙本は何冊か読んだのですが、今までは成功していませんでした。
本書は「禁煙しよう」と思って買ったわけではありません。
なんとなく手に取ったんです。

本書には「禁煙できない人は自己評価が低い」云々と書かれています。
「だったら、禁煙に成功したら自己評価が上がるのかな？」と思ったんです。

何故だかよく分かりませんが、もう二週間禁煙してます。
あまり欲しくもなりません。
自己評価もチョット上がったかな！？
禁煙に成功しているので５つ星にしておきます。

…明日、吸ってしまうかも知れませんけど。

不健康で不摂生な生活から脱出したい人はこの本を読んで生活習慣を改善しましょう。健康的な生活を送っている人にとっては退屈極まりない本です。
