書店で本書を手に取り、全ページカラー刷りなのが初見、好印象でした。
カラー刷りですので、例えば前線面の暖域・寒域等の表現、地上天気図・高層天気図での色鉛筆による色分けの手法の紹介等、一色刷りの本では得られなかった色によるストレートな表現がすばらしいです。肌身感じられる地上の気象現象の解説（全面カラー写真の１０種類雲形にはさり気なく国際式天気記号が添えてあり筆者のセンスが伺えます）から、天気図解析に関して、地上天気図に限らず、高層天気図までを含め解説してあり、気象を総観的に捕らえるセンスを身に付けることができます。
気象学初学の方（小学校高学年程度で気象に興味のある子なら十分に読みこなせる内容と感じます）から、気象予報士を目指す方、ＭＹ天気予報を作ってみたい方に是非お勧めです。
