３歳の息子に買いました。恐竜モデルは子供だましのようなマンガではなく、かなりリアリティがあって、大人でも目を見張ります。同種ごとに分類されていて、身長１１０センチの子供を基準に恐竜の大きさが比較されています。それぞれの恐竜の外見的特徴はモデルを使って説明されています。もう少し踏み入った説明は下段に小さく、面白おかしく書かれていて、恐竜に全く興味のない私も”へぇ~~”って感心しながら息子に読んでやっています。最終章の『きょうりゅうのひみつ』は子供が思ってそうな疑問に対して分かりやすく答えています。倍以上の値段で恐竜百科が出ていますが、幼児の入門本としてはこの本で十分、読み残しなく楽しめます。

うちの3歳の子供はこの本をきっかけに｢恐竜｣さんに夢中になりました。
イラストだけでなく恐竜モデルが実際の海や山で撮影されているので、リアル感がちがいます。恐竜の大きさとの比較のために子供の写真を目安に使っていたり、子供がはじめて出会う事典にはもってこいだったと思います。うちの場合、朝起きたら、｢カスモサウルスのお顔だよ！ガオ~」と毎日日替わりでいろんな恐竜さんをやってみせてくれます。毎日見ているのでもうボロボロになってしまいました。
