・革命
・凶悪犯罪者のその後
・離婚システム
・犯罪助長を防ぐためのメディア規制
・死刑制度
本編はそんな感じの重めテーマをいつもの調子で淡々と描く13巻です。
キノ、シズ、師匠とそれぞれの視点があって話が進むのも味わい深い感じ。

遊び要素がまったくないのかというとそうではなく、
PS2ゲームの予約特典となっていた「メインキャラ総登場やりたい放題パロディ」
も掲載されているので、暗すぎにはならないと思います。

※このパロディが気に入った方は廉価版ならお手頃なので音声付のゲームもどうぞ。
　個人的には1の「店の話」が絶賛モノです。

　相変わらずの完成度、安定感ある「キノの旅」は毎度安心して読めますね。もっとも、あとがきについてはその限りではありませんが。今巻ではでも、いつもよりはまともでしたけれど。……そうではないあとがきも、当然のように別にありましたですが。
　今回は読んでいて、「これ、現実のアレのことを暗喩、隠喩、揶揄しているんじゃ……？」と思わされることが、多々ありましたです。日々のニュース、その中の精髄の部分を取り出し単純化し戯曲化し、キノとエルメスに「それっていいの？それでいいの？関わりたくないのー」と言わせ、読者側に「そうなんだけどね……」とかく思わせる、もやっとさせる。この他作品にはなかなかない独特の感覚こそがやはり、この作品の肝でありますね。
　正義でなく最善、建前でなく本音、押し付けでなく享受……。そんな実行するにいと難きスタンスを一貫して崩さない劇中のキノ達、引いてはそうさせている時雨沢先生は流石です、みんなとっても大好きです！現実よりマシなのか、あるいはより酷いのか「the Beautiful World」、貴方も覗いてみませんか？

　中編作品も含んでいるので話数的にはいつもより少ないかもしれない。今回、死刑制度の話が多かったような気もする。あとは政治指導者の話とか。時節柄かも知れない。
　あとがきはF.A.Q形式。英訳にも注目。初めの注意書きが将来を見越していてちょっと面白かった。
