great for learning vocabulary

I liked this Italian CD because of the range of vocabulary spoken. I had a bit of difficulty putting it on my ipod, but I did finally figure it out. The speaker talks too fast, making it hard to hear all the sounds accurately.

I've had so many Italian learning stuff, books dvds and cds, this one is the most practical one! I downloaded it on my ipod and take it with me everywhere.

This system teaches you vocabulary--word and phrases only--but it does a great job of doing that. The words appear on the screen as would the title of your song, and the reader pronounces them a few times. The vocab is sorted by category, which allows you to focus on giving/getting directions, ordering food/reading menus, introducing yourself, etc. I wish there were a shuffle function so that you could shake it up once in a while, but overall I found the system to be pretty effective. I listened to it everyday on my way to work for about two months, and it gave me a pretty decent Italian foundation. Granted, I have studied both French and Spanish in the past so I wasn't exactly starting from scratch, but I still think it would be helpful for a beginner. The speaker was very easy to understand--if anything, a bit slow. I enjoyed the product so much that I am currently looking into buying iSpeak in other languages.
The only drawback for me is one that they can't really fix--when the phrase is long, you have to wait for the entire "title" to scroll across the screen so that you can see the rest of the phrase. This often takes more time than it actually takes the reader to say the phrase, in which case you have to go back multiple times to thoroughly understand what's being said.
