私にとってストーンズは８０年代以降、ライヴ盤しか聴かなくなってしまい、熱心なフォロワーではなくなってしまった。その中でライヴ＋スタジオ録音で構成された本作は、９５年発売のオリジナル盤のときから大好きな作品。エレキ・ギターも使っているが、かたいことぬきの、リラックスしたアコギをたっぷりフィーチャーしたストーンズ流アンプラグドの傑作。Ｍ７（最近ではあの話題のスーザン・ボイルもカヴァーしている）、９、１１のようなアンプラグド向けのいい曲が揃っているし、Ｍ２（これはプラグド）でディランの曲のカヴァーを初披露し、Ｍ８等はカントリー色を加味して原曲とは異なる表情を引き出している。いつものライヴの定番で本作に収録されたのはＭ１ぐらいだが、ストーンズとアンプラグドの組み合わせに期待する人を決して裏切らない傑作だ。

本エディションは０９年最新リマスター＋ＳＨＭ−ＣＤ盤。確かによく聴くとアコギやベースの音のキレが増し、バックのピアノ等の楽器の音がはっきりしたとは思う。しかし、元々９５年盤の音質は悪くなかった。それに９５年盤は日本盤だけのボーナス（海外ではＣＤシングルでリリースされた）「ブラック・リムジン」が含まれていたが、本エディションからは落ちた。ボーナスまではリマスターされなかったからだろう。ということで、私は９５年盤を手放さないことに決めた。
