【プロフィール】
2002年女性ボーカルnaoとサウント゛フ゜ロテ゛ューサー担当のsat(八木沼悟志)で結成される。日本最大のインディーズ楽曲サイトmuzieにて年間1位を
記録したことにより、I'veを起用したことでもしられるPCゲームメーカー最大手の「ビジュアルアーツ」社と提携し、ゲーム関連の楽曲を多数担当。
2008年7月16日、5pb社よりテレビアニメ『恋姫†無双』オープニングテーマ「flower of bravery」でメジャーデビューを果たす。
その楽曲はオリコン26位を記録。2009年3月にてボーカルnaoが脱退。2009年10月、TVアニメ「とある科学の超電磁砲(レールガン)」の

TVアニメ「とある科学の超電磁砲」のOPテーマソングであり、初代Vo.のnaoが脱退したfripSideのサウンドプロデュース担当のsat（八木沼悟志）が２代目Vo.として新しく声優の南條愛乃を迎えた新生fripSideのメジャーデビューシングル。
「only my railgun」はテクノ＆ロックな感じの歌なのですが、歌詞を見て分かるようにアニメの主人公である御坂美琴のための一曲です。
レールガンの弾丸ように突き抜けた疾走感のある曲調に、一見相反するような南條さんの柔らかな歌声が上手く絡み合い、まさに「痺れる」ほどカッコイイ一曲に仕上がっています。
対してc/wの「Late in autumn」は淡い恋心が込められたセンチメンタルナンバーです。
初雪が降り積るかのように募っていく恋心と切ない別れを乗り越えた先への意志がしっとりと歌い上げられています。
総評としては、曲に関してはいつもどおりのsatさんらしい素晴らしい出来だと思いますし、歌に関しても、まだ南條さんの歌声が若干地に足が着かないようなふわふわした感じがするものの、これがデビューシングルという事を考慮すれば十分な出来だと思ったので、これからの期待も込めて星４つとさせて頂きました。

前Vo.のnaoさんが脱退したときには心配でたまりませんでしたが、今回fripSideが再メジャーデビューしてくれて一安心することが出来ました。
これからもfripSideにはより一層頑張ってもらって、アルバムを出す頃には南條さんの洗練された歌声でもう一度「only my railgun」を歌ってもらいたいものです。
何にせよ、アニメや原作のファンや昔からのfripSideファンはもちろん、それ以外の方々にもオススメの一品なので、少しでも興味を持った方は一度聴いてみてください。

TVアニメ「とある科学の超電磁砲」のOPテーマで初めて視聴した時、歌い出しからアップテンポで作品の世界観を表現した歌詞に魅了されて感動しました。この歌には言葉だけで語りつくせない魅力があります。購入後繰り返し聞いて歌詞覚えました。「とある科学の超電磁砲」のOPテーマ素晴らしいので後期があるなら、この歌を超えるもの期待してます！

歌詞カードを見ると主人公の美琴の性格をそのまま表しており
ある意味直球！！
特にまくし立てる英語のサビは鳥肌物
しかも２番はまた違うサビなので
(英語の歌詞を和訳するとこれも美琴らしく面白い）
聞いてて飽きません＞＜
(気持が良いの曲なので街中でウォークマンのバッテリー切れました＾＾；）

美琴のパワーをそのままブチ込まれるような元気の出る曲です！！
