TVアニメの主題歌である1曲目は切ない感情を素晴らしいメロディに乗せて歌った曲で、大好きだ。ギターがちゃらんと入って、コーラスがかぶさるところもすごくいい。曲の短さが潔くていい。もっと聞きたいと思ったところで終わるのだ。2曲目は山口ともさんが演奏する様々なパーカッションの音が、心にさざなみを起こす。きれいなメロディの下に隠された複雑な感情を暗示しているようだ。
3曲目ははずむメロディに、心も軽くなる。彼らの曲としては珍しくサックスソロを間に挟んで、最初のメロディに戻る。やさしい響きをもつ日本の言葉を選んで歌にしているので、日本人の心の奥に染み入るのだな。それが最もよく現れているのが4曲目。「正しい言葉 正しい意味 ほんとうはないんだな ... 」ここの一節が深い余韻となって残る。

アニメ『青い花』のOPをきっかけに知ったのだが、聴けば聴くほど空気公団はしっかりとした世界を持ったアーティストだ。ボーカルの山崎ゆかりの飾らない歌声も印象的。

M1「青い花」は切なくて透明なナンバー。ピアノ＋アコギ＋ベース＋ドラムスのシンプルなバンドサウンドを基本に、多重録音風の分厚いコーラスが加わり、等身大のボーカルが歌い上げる。荒井由実（松任谷由実ではない）を彷彿とさせる名曲。フルコーラスは、アニメのOPの「完全版」という感じで聴き惚れる。

M2「グラデーション」は「夜と朝の間」を描いた浮遊感のあるバラード。不思議なコード進行と淡々としたボーカルに癒される。じわじわ来る作品。初期の大貫妙子とか、シュガー・ベイブが好きな人にはたまらない感じ。

M3「うしろに聴こえる」は、スロー・ジャズなのだが、ボーカルの旋律とリズムがちょっと耳にひっかかる感じで印象に残る。この曲もそうだが、一人称で「ぼく」を使うのも特徴的。

M4「悲しみ知らん顔」は、ピアノ弾き語り風にしっとりと歌い上げるバラード。音と音の間の余韻、言葉と言葉の間の意味を味わいながら聴く作品。

もう10年以上も活動しているバンドなのだから当然といえば当然だが、この４曲だけでも空気公団ならではの「世界」が確立していることがよくわかる。心を落ち着けたいときに、一人でゆっくりと聴きたい。

曲全体にわたって、友達に対する思いがこめられていると思う。
友達に対する思いも明るいものだけではないはずだが、この曲は明るさを基調にしつつも、ちょっと切ないような思いも伝わってくるような感じがした。
逆にそういう部分があるからこそ、少し落ち込んだときに聞きたいな、と思う曲のように私は感じた。
